Hey guys,

I filled my tank in NJ (everything is full serve) and the guy forgot to put my gas cap back on. I went to fill my tank and noticed there was no cap! I want to by an oem part. Can somebody give me the part number for the Supra equivalent if it matches? I have 97 SC300. Is there any problem driving w/o a gas cap?

There was a change in gas caps after certain years... I don't recall which year but I know my 99 gas cap was different than my 96.

Why a Supra cap?
why not what its supposed to run,....or go get a Ghetto cap from autozone.
CEL will come on w/ no cap but you need to get one quick.not good with that type of evap leak.

when i open my gas cap, AZZ LOADS of air comes rushing out. Does that mean my cap isn't sealing right? i've been wondering about this for some time now.

 

No that's normal it happens to al of us

As for the OP just hit up aliga or ur local junkyard and call it a day!

 

No that is actually a good sign that your cap is sealing really well, if it wasn't sealing well you wouldn't hear the rushing noise at all (which is really fuel vapor, not air), and your check engine light would come on.

just get a cap from autozone i had one in my audi it worked fine save that money for mods i dont get y you want a supra cap in ur sc if u want a supra get 1

 

u can use the caps from autozone like t70 said, they sell them for mkIII supra for sure, i'm using one.

 

i got an extra gas cap from my local junkyard. you can have it for free. why does it say you're in CA/PA? I'm in Cali bro haha

 

I don't think he wants a Supra cap per se, rather I think he was figuring in terms of swappable parts from Toyota that are cheaper than Lexus... Although I could be wrong...
