Default Sc400 kills Mustang

i was out driving to the club and saw a 97-00 SC400 race a Mustang 3 times and everytime the SC400 killed it. It looked like the guy wasnt even trying. The SC looked stock but Ilooked at the mufflers and they seem to be aftermarket. Are the SC400s really that fast? Iwas liek WOW.

Still could have been a 6-cyl with Flowmaster straight pipes. They are both loud (and smooth sounding), but a trained ear can easily differentiate V6 from V8.

Not at all reliable in this ricer age, but you could have also taken notice of the GT/SVT badging, or the imprinted Mustang GT label on the rear bumper.

I'm guessing either 6-cylinder Mustang or else a highly modded SC400. Bottom line the GT will eat an SC400 stock for stock.

I dunno, but the SC400 sure showed the mustang whats was up. The mustang was making all that noise for nothing.

Which type of body style? fox-body, 94-98, or 99-present?

I raced a '93 5.0 at Sears Point and beat him twice. I race the '94+ gen V8's (the 4.6's) and beat them on the street pretty consistently. The newest gen ones are faster, but with a TC I'll be running past them too.
On the freeway once my convertor is locked up I'll lose the new gen Mustangs too. Mustang owners seem to think they have something to prove... one in a black latest-gen one was trying to get me to race him on the freeway a week ago, and I ignored him till I got to my exit and then blew by him, changed lanes in front of him and got off the freeway

i am one of the mustang owners. The new GT are very fast. 260 bhp with good torque. Currently, there is a bolt-on single turbo for the mustang GT that will run 10s. Bolt-on turbo for the cobra is low 10s. Most mustangs are fast, but few are just stock.

Although the modified mustangs are fast, but i still prefer SC400 with twin turbo.

A bolt-on single turbo that turns 10-second quarters? Hmmm, not sure about that. It's got to be churning out like 800hps. I don't mean to flame, but Mustangs are pretty slow for what they are. I will admit that they do sound sweet with a simple cat-back exhaust, but the GT is all bark and no bite considering a lower priced stock Z28 will eat it alive. Even in the aftermarket, the Z28 comes out ahead dollar for dollar. The 2003 Cobra sounds very promising however. 390hps, mid-12 quarter miles, and all for $35k. It's about time they made a decent price/power performer.

The 4.6L didn't come out until '96. (just FYI)

So is the 10-second turbo kit the TDC Stage 2XX for $7000? Not bad. My question is why would anyone buy a Cobra now, when you can build a Cobra-eater out of a GT for about the same price as a 351...

lol depends what you consider fast .. but a 14sec GT isn't fast

what do you consider "most" cause arn't most v6 .. and those arn't fast ... and most GT's are stock too.

bottom line -> its still a mustang
