Sc400 kills Mustang
So is the 10-second turbo kit the TDC Stage 2XX for $7000? Not bad. My question is why would anyone buy a Cobra now, when you can build a Cobra-eater out of a GT for about the same price as a 351
The same questions apply. Why would anyone buy a supra, vet, viper and so on. If you can get a 99+ GT with TDC turbo? Stock GT runs about $26,000 Plus $7000 for the turbo. Less than $35,000, you can have a 10s car.

Keep in mind $7,000 only buys you the parts. You'd still have to have them installed for a few grand. Nevertheless, you don't think you can tune a '93 Supra NA to 10-seconds with $35,000? 35,000 - 14,000 = $21,000 in power upgrades. Plus you'll have a quiter, higher quality, better handling, and smaller motored car with the Supra. Vipers are overpriced to begin with so that's out of the question. Vettes appeal to a whole new demographic of people therefore it's aftermarket will be more expensive. But again, $35,000 will still build a Mustang-killing Z28.
Well said lex400sc, gimme $21,000 to upgrade a NA Supra and i'll show you a single digit car. I think many of us cut our teeth on nitroused and/or supercharged/turbocharged Stangs, Camaros, etc (guys like SC300TURBO and SC300T were already into imports early on) but they are what they are, cookie-cutter cars (you know what they say, they're like @ssholes, everyone's got one) that are engineered to start falling apart @ 50k miles, take it from someone who's put enough power into these unibodies to twist them enough for the doors to not even open or the T-tops to seal. I know i'll offend a few ppl with this one, but reality bites, and reality is that these cars are built by some fat lazy American with practically no work ethic and certainly no concern for how tight those control arm bolts are. I want my whip built by someone with a killer work ethic, who cranks 12+ hours every day, exercises before he starts his work day, and takes his **** seriously, he's not hung over from too much Sake last night. That's right, the Japanese, and even better, a Toyota employee, this is a company that knows how to build 'em. Can't compare a Stang to a Supra or a Lexus, different kind of animal, brother. Besides, why sweat it healerhand, you have a Cobra and an LS
. For the record, I was dusting local V8 Mustangs with a worked 2.3 turbo intercooled SVO 4cyl in a T-Bird Turbo Coupe, back in the day, before guys like SC300TURBO had turbo Integras. Most 5.0 and 'mod motor' Mustangs roaming the streets are more bark than bite, but there is the occasional 10-sec sleeper 302 turbo, 306 Vortech, 347 carbed Notch running around...

I love my LS and its great. As far as $21,000. I dont think that amount of money can make a 93 Supra N/A run into 10s. Some of the guys in this forum spend over $60,000 on their car to run into 10s.
I would like to how the $21,000 break down.
1. How much does it cost to built a 2JZGE into turbo ready?
2. How much a Single turbo system would run? I assume twin will produce less HP
3. How much would it take to beef up the tranny?
4. What about labor?
5. Tunning?
6. ECU?
7. Fuel Supply?

I've got an old Fiero(for sale) with a newer GM motor that I put together for $6K that'll at least keep up with a stock SVT stang, handles just a bit better too.
Just think what you could do to a Supra or SC with $20K.
I guess I can see why one would buy a stang though, reasonably priced performance for a brand new car.
