Default Swapping ignitions

LONG STORY SHORT, THE TRANSPORTERS DUMBA** LOST MY KEY, TO MY 93 5SPD. I HAVE MY 95 SHELL THAT i AM PARTING OUT AND WANT TO TAKE THE IGNITION ASSEMBLY OFF AND USE THE KEY INTO MY 93 TO FIRE HER UP. HOW DO I TAKE THESE IGNITIONS OFF AND SWAP THEM? THANKS IN ADVANCE.

I bumped a 6yr old thread in the sub section above, but it seems no one goes on there so I had to put it on here. Thanks for all the help!

You will need to remove the plastic steering column shrouding then put your key in the ignition and turn it to the accesory position then push down on the retainer pin located on the ignition body and simultaneously pull out the ignition. On the car with no key your gonna have to find a way to destroy that retaining pin. If I were you, I would just take your proof of ownership to your local lexus dealer and have them make you a new key by code... Or you can remove your passenger side door lock and get the key code off of the housing and take it to your local locksmith and have them make you a new key by code.

Whoa whoa whoa... The lock on the outside I'm assuming. So I'd have to pull out the whole door handle?

the only other way would be to tow the car to lexus and get them to make you a key.

Original japanese vehicle locks have key codes stamped on the housing of the passenger side door lock. Just make sure your local locksmith can cut 2/4 track keys aka high security key blanks by code. At my shop we charge $60 for this service. You can also order keys online from Sewell Lexus for a good price.

If you have all the paperwork you can buy a new key at Lexus. I bought a spare key for $40. You just need the VIN and proof that you own the car.

you dont need to tow the car anywhere to get the key made.

go to lexus and ask them to make you a valet key for your car(cheapest one, no need for the one with a remove. it sucks and outdated anyways)

bring them the title for the car and proof of ownership. They use the vin to cut the key. they should be able to cut you one on the spot or within a few days if they are lazy.

after they cut you a key go to a good locksmith and make more copies for cheap. my locksmith made me keys for my sc300 for 10 bucks each...including the cost of the blank.
