Quick question! Do our front strut mounts contain bearings?!
The mechanic who's assembling my struts is saying that the front strut mounts should have bearings so that they can pivot.
I didn't see a bearing in my old strut mounts and I certainly dont see one in this Supra TT strut mount either.
Anyone know? I want to get this F'er put back together...

Man, I couldn't find that info anywhere! Thanks!
EDIT: to correct myself, the front strut mounts do have a bearing, but they dont pivot like McPherson struts.

It all depends.
Some cars have simple rubber top mounts, some have rubber top mounts with roller bearings so that it can spin, and some have spherical bearings aka pillowball.
Rubber top mounts reduce NVH but offer the driver less 'feel' from the suspension.
All race cars use spherical bearings in the top mounts without rubber.

SC300/400 and Supra both simple rubber style on their stock top mounts.

You know what really sucks about that. You can't buy the supra or sc300 front strut mounts from say, Moog or anywhere except the dealer!
I looked all over and couldn't find them aftermarket for the front.
Elmhurst has them for $75 each, but damn, that's alot for a simple rubber mount at 'cost'.

Yep, I'm ordering mounts now!
Dude, good find! That's the ONLY aftermarket SC300 or Supra front strut mount I've seen.
I wonder how the quality of a Monroe $20 mount compares to a OEM $75 mount??? I'd hate to cheap out and have the Monroe clunk or give out because the rubber was too cheap?
MONROE Part # 905938 {Strut-Mate Suspension Strut Mounting Kit**
Front $20.89

Well I got to tell you, I sent the monroe mounts back because the new oem strut bumpres would not fit into the set area but I got the lexus oem strut mounts and still not right. The trouble is the front strut bumper is a hair to big to fit into the set area and the back strut mount's ares is 5/8 ins. larger set then the oem strut bumper. I dont know what they look like because I didnt take the car apart yet. I called Lexparts were I got the parts and the parts guy, Matt asked a tech in the shop about this trouble and told me that is the way they are designed.
Can any one tell me if the parts will work together because it looks to me like the strut bumper will be bouncing around freely making noise, and not doing what it should be doing
Does any one have some tips for me. Thanks to all.
