well hold on, before you go spending money on something that you don't know you really need, tell us you're failed numbers so someone here can start diagnosis. CO, HC and NOx numbers.

Hmm interesting. Mini cat? Reduce emissions of CO2 up to 12%? I thought CO2 is good if higher percentage.

Post up your numbers. HC, CO, CO2, NOx.

Yes CO2 is better than CO as CO2 is a natural part of the combustion equation. The more CO2 in the exhaust the more complete the combustion. CO happens when there is too much fuel or misfires that cause incomplete combutsion

That thing is a ripoff come to think of it...

What part of the emissions did you fail. If it was high nox, dimes to donuts your egr line is clogged(with carbon deposits) as it goes into you intake right behind your throttle valve. PITA to clean but doable.

First thing, your engine was warmed up before you took the test, correct?

Second if you run a 20 percent acetone to 80 percent gas mixture, you will pass your test for sure.

It has to be warm in order to test it. It needs to be in closed loop operation to detect cat efficiency when the cat is nice and hot for it to do best. They check for open and closed loop operation before the test begins...at least in my state it does

As for the gas mix, i wouldn't recommend it. It could damage the O2 sensors in the process, or worse the catalytic converter.

People seem to have good results using Seaform, you may want to check that stuff out.

I've used it twice now, works like a charm everytime. From everything i have read online it wont damage anything. It's a technique mechanics have been using for years to pass cars. Infact their are reports out their of cars with no cats passing with acetone.

If your NoX numbers are high it's usually from a lean mixture. It's why we don't run 15.7:1ish ARF. I would get the car looked at. I would also do some sprinted driving before taking it to get smoged and also not turn the car off when you get their. It really helps to have the cat hot (working) for the smog test. I've also passed the sniffer test using E85, but I also had the means to add the extra 30% more fuel to do so. E85 burns pretty darn clean.

But the easiest method I've used to pass smog was money. Much less time consumming if you "know" someone. Best of luck. And if it was NOX you failed I would have the EGR checked as mentioned above along with intake leaks.
