I was contemplating the same thing. I have a SC3 with 109k miles and would like to turbocharge my motor running no more than 10psi daily. I don't think there is an exact answer as far as how many miles you can have since all motors and their owners aren't equal. I think there's a couple owners on this board who have had turbo past the 100k mark. In your search for a sc3 I would suggest doing a compression test and finding out what type of owner(S) the car has had and the maintenance the car has had.

if the motor is taken care of it will ast for 200k.....depending on how you take care of it...but if you need to rebuild and are going turbo go for a stock supra tt short block..Jeff

Would swapping in a stock Supra TT shortblock be a simple install?
From my understanding, it is extremely difficult and expensive. The motors aren't easily swapped. There are a lot of small parts and modifications needed in order for the Supra TT motor or shortblock to be put in.
If I'm wrong, let me know.

I'm in the same boat as you guys, it seems. I got 118,000 miles on my 92' SC3 and I'm not sure if I should just do an engine swap from the Supra or go ahead and do a stage 1 from toyomoto. It's a VERY hard decision=) . Suggestions?

my suggestion is do the turbo from toyomoto.....simple bolt on.....you get great hp...no need to pray about buying a used supra motor.....and if you have problems you can buy another sc300 motor alot cheaper than a supra tt mototr....or you can mate the tt block to the n/a head and its not that difficult of a change...but i would reccommend a pro to do it....but dosent have all the complications of the electronics associated with the entire tt swap...although toyomoto can do the TT motor swap also...Jeff
p.s my car has 126k miles on it
