Please Help, Headlamp problem :(
I got my car back yesterday, paint was great, except that now the driverside headlamp fogs, I took it to them to see what they could do, they took a look, dried it out and said it was because one of the lights was loose, good, but then later that day it fogged back up! I know there was a thread on this before, but I can't seem to find it, please if anyone knows how to fix it or what is wrong, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the fast reply, very appreciated, so I figure I should get the body shop to do the work while I go shopping or something, knowing that it was fine before they took off the front nose to repaint it? Do you think they are at fault and should fix it for me?

That is lexus paint, the front bumper just got painted, thats why it looks so fresh, the hood is the original paint after 8+ years. Not too bad! Thank god lexus is awesome quality!

ARGHHHHHHH,
You know what, I just went outside to check out the light in the rain, and whatdayaknow, it's foggy and rain logged inside. I guess if you are going to that repair, make sure you take your time and be very careful. I swore my head off trying to take apart the thing, sticking the light in the oven, getting that messy silicon sealant everywhere, etc ... I'm almost saying now it's just worth the money to buy a new light. I know this kind of rain-in-light stuff is annoying for us Lexus owners who follow the relentless persuit of perfection ...

Nice SC4 Pheonix... 1st off have them to put a bead of silicon around the entire light. If not use some super glue to seal the entire light... NOT JUST THE TOP!!! Make sure the lights are in the socket right... Give the car a day or so to dry up completely... If a lot of h20 was in the housing it may just take a day or 2 to completely dry out. If it is more than a day there is a leak.
Skininja and other guys***On the head light repair you have to really take your time and do it right... My driver's side light has been repaired every since I first posted the "Damnnnnnnnn" thread! Thanks Relexin for the info!
I have had no problems at all with fogging/condensation or anything at all on the driver side. On the pass side I had a lil' condesation, so I checked the rubber "L" or "U" shape rubber drain tubes on the back of the headlight. One was broken(I'm not sure if I broke it when I repaired it or what
)... I tried to fix it again.. So I simply drilled a few (8 or 9) holes in the bottom of the housing(in the BLACK part). I use a very small drill bit. Drilled at the back corners(under the signal, park light socket spot).. Also a few in the bottom center about 3" from each other. I also used some silicate to close the rubber hose from the light that was broken(if yours is not broken do not seal off).
I tried this on a car of mine before back in the day... It works
Also a member here said they did it in their SC. I forgot who said it. I was about to fix the pass light again and decided to try the drilling technique before I spent another 1.5 hours on the light. the drilling procedure takes 20 mins, start to finish. It has been about 2 months on the drilled light, and all is well so far.
***The dealership may have knock off those lil' rubber drain tubes on the back of the lights. It is a BIG coincidence that your headlights are foggy now... Especially if they were not before the removal of the bumper cover... Who knows?!
Good luck...

Where did you get painted? Was it just a body shop, or did you go to a lexus dealer? I'm just curious.
About the headlights, I had the same problem...But I pretty much ignored it because I'm lazy. And this time, laziness paid off becuase the fogging went away after about 2 weeks, and it hasn't been back...even after car washes and rain!
BTW, my car was repainted too. I had it painted by a body shop who claimed that it was "lexus paint", but I don't think it was. My color seems to be a little darker than the factory color...

I remember somebody said before, "by putting a few grains of rice inside the light which will absorb the condensation"
anyone has tried it yet?

I might try that rice in the lense, I think it will just evaporate, I am sure the seals are still good, they didn't do anything to the headlamps, but he said that one of the lights was loose when I brought it in for them to try to fix. Hopefully it will just go away. My Lexus dealership doesn't do body work, they recomended me to this shop, I think they have been certified or trained or something by toyota. Paint job was paid by my insurance company because some kids decided to steal my decals, damage was minimal but my insurance covered it all, I got new center caps and new emblems, they repained my whole trunk lid and my whole front bumper, even though the front had just the littlest scratch on it. Hopefully my problem is like yours howiedoit, and it will just vanish
. I am getting the windows tinted soon, a nice green film on all windows, except windsheild, what do you guys think?

Ikon,
You mentioned a broken drainage tube ... I remember when installing my re-done light I noticed a cracked black rubber tube coming out from the back of the light, didn't think much of it. Could my problem just be the cracked drainage tube? Thanks ...
