I've heard this on many cars, and mine usually only did it after a rain. now here in San Diego it rained for a week (WTF????) and my car now has a squeek that seems to match the RPM speed. more RPMs = Faster squeeking.
Seems to be coming from one of the pullies on the right side when facing head to head with the car. Left side from driver's view. Any help???
If he doesn't have the under engine plastic part that could allow for the water to get in there. Or just it being more humid in the air from a week long rain that the car is not used to.
my 400 used to squeak in morning for like 5 mins it was cold outside. But ever since I changed the drive (serpentine) belt, it hasen't squeaked since. not bad for $25
I'll 2nd on the idler pulley bearing. Remove the serpentine belt, make sure the bolt holding the pulley to the tensioner is tight (left hand threaded), and grasp the pulley and try to rock it back and forth. There should not be any play. Also, spin the pulley by hand, if the bearing sounds "dry", it is toast. The bearing can be replaced without bending over for the complete tensioner assy. The bearing part number is 6203. Costs around $3-$6.
