Unhappy shift hesitant

I already searched but decided to post a new thread for a definite answer. My car has recently been stuttering every time it shifts. It takes a long time to get up to speed. I already know its not my spark plugs because i changed them about 3-4 years ago. Could it be my automatic tranny is slipping? Could it be my motor mounts gone bad or even my tranny fluid overfilled from my recent flush? Help me out fellas before it goes to a shop....

My car sputters/jerks mostly after the car goes into 3rd gear going 40 MPH and then it starts sputtering/jerking for a few seconds. It seems to happen mostly when the car is not warmed up all the way. It still happens even after my car got a major tune-up. I'm still trying to find an answer to this, too.

How is your idle?
Any CELs?

Could be a number of things. Since you changed your spark plugs 3-4 years ago maybe its time to change them again depending on the miles you put on them. Look into the spark plug wires if they are very old or damaged. Also checkout the distributor rotor as it may be all toasty if it has never been changed. Can also be a fuel/injector issue or o2 sensor going bad. Another thing to look into is the MAF. Sounds like something is causing the car to be misfiring

seems like we have the saqme exact problem my car idles great no misfires nor cels but when i shift on auto it hesistates and i have to get off the gass and let i shift(dunno if thats how it happens to u)

right on the money! i had mine flushed like a month or so ago. could it be overfilled?

Try this, go for a short drive so until you reach operating temperature. After, pull the transmission dipstick and observe it. If the fluid is foamy or full of bubbles, it might be overfilled. I'm assuming you used Toyota ATF as a non-matching ATF would cause shift issues as well. Hopefully its something simple that can be resolved w/o further damage.

sounds like it could be shift solenoids also. Had the same exact symptoms and I replaced all three. Shifts like a brand new transmission (I rebuilt it with all new clutches about 40k ago)
