a 1UZ or 3UZ...am leaning a tad toward the 3UZ though...has higher displacment, VVTi, and looks to have a lot of potential in the long run

the price + availablilty are the key issues, but i dont expect to buy one soon anyway so a price decrease in the future can be expcted....could use the extra $$$ for some good ol NA power with it....

I think it's the tundra motor-- 4.7 -- and you may get it to run non-vvti on the stock computer with a lot of the original harness and sensors-- with a piggyback or more appropriately a standalone would ideally solve the operation issues-- But nonetheless, you'd have a truck motor, prob the same weight or close to a 2JZ, with some good displacement-- and not to mention torque--

I think the heads from the 1UZ fit the 3UZ block too-- in some way shape or form, for almost instant displacement-- I don't know all the details on that one though--

And this one is going to be all over map because the engines are all great and there is no right answer. Of course its got the ever popular "I got mine for only $500 bucks" aspect to it, like you could ever do it again or have your hook-ups.

Sorry -- A 3UZ is the 4.3 from the SC430-- ALL aluminum motor-- WAAAAYY better-- but still 300 ish hp and 315 tq--- Sounds like a worthwhile swap to me.

well even if there is no right answer, it will give one thread that people can look at for pros and cons of everything. that way they can just look here instead of popping up numerous questions and flooding the system. hopefully this thread will serve its purpose and more people will keep posting about their modded/swapped engine experiences.

annoying kid?
i'm sorry, have we spoken before? lol

i voted for the 2jzge, i did this because honestly its already in the car, aftermarket support is getting way better and the swappable config between the gt and ge motors are great. you can still get very good power from the ge motor as long as you use some kind of fi system. just my thought.

2JZ-GE gets my vote.

If you know how to use a wrench, turboing a GE is actually quite easy. But the best thing about this motor is that it is DIRT cheap. Meaning you can build one up, break it down, and if it blows, then buy another one and build that. After market performance parts for the GE is sprawling as well.

Not to mention the bottom end can handle 800hp.
