I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if anyone had this PDF on file because this is a dead link (the water pump removal) If not, does anyone have detailed instructions for the R+R for the water pump on a 92 sc300 2jz? Thanks.
I did my water pump, first time, in about an hour and a half, not knowing exactly what steps to take. taking off the crank pulley was the hardest step, mine was jammed on pretty badly.
just make sure you mark that the engine is at tdc, just like the cams. if you mess up, it's not bad, because the engine's non-interference anyway.
Sorry to raise the dead; but I'm having this same problem.. I did search.
Any help?
Im in the middle of it now.. just removed the serp. belt.
You've barely started.
Take off your crank pulley. This is a *****. People use different techniques. I'll just share what I did. I used a "chain wrench". Look it up. The crank bolt is a 22mm. Might want to use an impact socket. I broke my regular socket on that thing.
After that. Take off the timing belt cover. Its plastic.
Take off the serp belt tensioner. SHould be 3 bolts.
Take off your TIMING belt tensioner. its a grey lookin cylinder. 2 bolts for that.
Take your timing belt off. Just slide tit off.
Take off your TIMING belt tensioner PULLEY. Its located infront of the waterpump its a Huge allen wrench bolt.
Then you can take off the FRONT part of your water pump. if you need to take off the whole pump. Housing and all, you'll need to do a few extra things.
I'm not sure if i have to replace my water pump or head gasket...i drove without no fluid in the radiator like an ***. while drivin the car overheated an jus cuts off on the road. It was smoking alot. I then ran to the nearest store and bough some fluid. When i throw it in an start the car back nothing is circulating an the fluid is leaking out.
