Hello community does anyone here know what involved in the removal of the water pump on a 1jzgte ? In other words what needs to come off ? I just got my new water pump yesterday and it seems the water extends into the block if you are standing in front of your car i looked at the water that i got it it seems it goes further into the timing compartment area. I know the pulley and fan blade have to come off but what else , it seems that the timing belt and or tensinor puller as well to get to one of the bolts in the back. I am confused as to what needs to come off besides the pulley and fan blade. This job looks to rough for me , i did not know what i was getting into . Please help .
While you are changing the waterpump change the timing belt, tensioner, cam seals and front main seal. It will save you from having to tear it all apart in the future when one of them go out.
The timing belt has to come off before you can remove the WP,remove the Water Neck that bolt on the side of the head, remove the alternator to have some room to work.
1JZVVti don't mess with it let a professional do it for you ,or talk to a local member that have done it to help you with it, i wish i live in FL lol.
Let me know how that goes!!
i changed the waterpump on my 1jz. Basically EVERYTHING in front of the waterpump has to come off. Fan, Accessory belt, timing belt cover, timing belt, alternator, all the pulley's. IMO unless you are pretty handy and have a lot of time / tools, it can be a real PITA. Getting the crank bolt off was a biznatch.
