I recently got my car back from the bodyshop after a small act of driving stupidity. One of my headlights was replaced. The new headlight looks so nice because it's all crystal clear, shiny and new, but the older one doesn't really match now. It doesn't have the common condensation problem, but it just old looking(not very clear). Does anybody know if I could just get a replacement lens or do I have to get the whole assembly, and how much do they cost? Thanks.

I had the same problem and instead of replacing the headlight, I took it all apart and polished the inside of the old lens with plastic polish. You should be able to find it in a good auto paint supply store. Mine came out great, looks just like the new one. It's just a little time consuming to take the headlight apart. I also did the high beams in the car and they turned out well too.

to take the headlight apart i had to heat up the seam with a heat gun and gently pry the lens off the housing with a med sized flat screwdriver. Be careful not to pry too hard or you could chip the lens.

Hi Slick,
I agree with all of the previous postings but would like to add that I had the same problem and did not need to remove or replace the headlight assembly. I was advised to use Meguiars Crystal Paint Cleaner (but plastic polish would work as well as previously noted) with some kitchen paper and after lots of rubbing the other three lights were as clear as the newly replaced one. Most of the oxidisation is on the outside of the light. Anyway I thought it might be worth a try before removing the headlight assembly to clean it cause thats a right pain in the backside.

Yeah, sometimes there's just oxidation on the outside of the lens, but I had a small moisture problem on mine and the inside had turned a little dull looking. On my high beams I didn't have any moisture inside but still polished the inside and it looked 100% better. I used regular clear silicone to reseal the lights.
