headlights
Ya, there were many many attempts by people to upgrade these lights to something more powerful since they look kinda funky next to the big lights. I don't like them myself, at night when you turn them on, they're soo weak, they look like brown lights.
Then again, I won't play with the looks till I get some power upgrades so my car isn't so slow.

YuuDawg, on the 194 wedge bulbs DO NOT put any bulbs in that are 11 watts or higher!!!!   Especially with the bigger bulb heads... You will burn your park light bulb housing!!!
Just go with the 194 hyper whites or equalivent that burn brighter without the extra heat....

I bought the Hiper brand replacement bulbs for the wedge lights. They aren't blue like the headlights, pure white (would go good with stock lights) but they don't look bad with the xenon bulbs.
Ok, the holders for the bulbs have two wires entering them, they feel like two cylinders attached in the middle. the easiest one to get to is on the left side (on the 400, no battery on that side). You will see a metal extension protruding from the light, put your hand back there and the bulb will be a little below it and to the left. Twist and pull out.
Excuse my language, but the right one is a ***** to remove. I would reccomend that you take out your battery when replacing this side. I didn't have the tools to remove the battery when I received the bulbs and was anxious... I cut up my hand kinda bad trying to get to it, removing it, and putting it back.
YuuDawg, have you installed that spoiler?

I have some condensation built up in my assembly so I had to pull it off.
Anyway, it is much easier to get to the bulbs if you take out the assembly. In the fender wheeel well, just in front of the front tire is an plastic access panel
Two screws to get entry and that will get you to the 2 nuts holding the light assmbly.
Only takes a min. to take off, and you will have access to any bulb you like.
One more ???
What is a brand of low beam that I can purchase to give me that bue HID look.
Some of those bulbs are too blue.

I tried getting to the inside of my wheel well (was going to mod the side markers). After an hour I gave up. I was able to fit my hand in there (barely, scratched my hand up again) but the screws for the side markers are TINY and I couldn't see them to unscrew them. It doesn't help having 18x8.5s up front either. I'll just wait until I put my winter wheels on.
As for low beam HID look, I'd reccomend the Euro or Xenon brands. I have the Hiper brand and I like them, but they have a good deal of blue tint to them.
man... don't tell me that the fog lights are a ***** to remove. fog lights are next on my to do list
any tips on replacing the bulb? I'm thinking of swapping the stock fog bulb with yellow/orange bulbs, I really like that look on the GS and IS with the yellow fogs and blue hid's.

tips... what I did was take out 4 screws towards the side and front of the bottom panel
then i kinda twisted my arm up into there and there are 2 nuts for the lights, you can feel the long screws, they're 8mm so you'll need to get a socket wrench up in there too, then there's a screw on TOP of the fog light assembly, that's 8mm too...
the bumper lenses are a lot easier to get out, just turned my wheel all the way to the other side and the nuts are 8mm, just find the screw and put your wrench over that, after 1/2 a turn they were really loose and i just took them out with my hands..
good luck

Just like Yuudawg says, get an extension and you can get at them 8mm nuts.
Must look great tho with the 18 inch wheels.
Anyway, it is hard to get that HID look.
I dont like too blue.
I just found the other day a resister system that you splice into the high beam wiring and it will turn on the high beams in a lower wattage at the same time as you turn on your low beams.
High beam will not be affected when you turn on high beam.
I looked at the diagram and yes it will work as they say.
About $15 for the kit and maybe 10 min to install.
Thinking about it.
Does anyone have a '93 sc400 owners mabual for sale?
or even sell me a xerox copy? LOL

to take out the right one, I found it to be easier if you use your fingers throught the holes on the top of it, use one to press one side down and with the other hand use another finger to pull the other side up and that should twist it
