Default Changing climate control LEDs

Did anyone ever try to exchange the LEDs in the climate control to super bright LEDs? I'm not talking about the button / display backlighting, but the orange and green ones on top of the unit. Anyone (OLT )have any specs for the LEDs I could use as a replacement?

Just pay OLT the $50 or w/e and get him to do them for you. They are soldered in and chances are even if you replace the OEM lights for LEDs, you will get little spots as lights and it wont look right.

Money is no issue, well at least not in this case . Seriously though, I'm not trying to save any money here, it's just that as far as I know, the LED conversions he does do not involve those bulbs (which are already LEDs).

hey coupes! There is no direct problem with doing it, they are just a pain to work with. They are 1mm and various colors - which make them run at various voltages. So with that, each one is set up to different voltage running to it for it's color.

Being a perfectionist, I refuse to change mine since they will not all burn at the same intensity. SOoooooooo full rewire of each and every one.

Just not worth it........... to do it right.

Got it, thanks. Definitely nothing I'd want to try then.

I have been looking into a reliable replacement LCD screen for a while and the best I could find was a new replacement LCD for $300...That is the best price I can find so far at lextreme.......That blackening deal stinks on these climate controls..., and it only gets worse over time....

This is a pic of what my current climate control, trying to seek out a cheeper alternative then the $300.....I have seen used climate control units at the yards and on ebay for as low as $150...Those too will go bad sooner then a new one and I would ruin my dash kit in replacing the Climate control unit....

O.L.T. any suggestions on how to fix this for under $300?

No one has ever made an aftermarket screen up to the OEM quality. If you look at other forums, like the lx,gs I believe, they are experiencing dead screens after just 2 years..... that's what happens when the factory outsources from the new age "cheaper" lcd's.

I still stick my money on the factory lcd.

Default Replacement Climate Control LCD

I found a seller today on eBay offering a new replacement LCD for 92-96 SC300 and 400s. The feedback on the seller 100% positive and he (or she) claims the LCD unit is made with glass instead of plastic and has a better operating temperature range than the OEM part. He also includes new backlight lamps as part of the package and will install everything as an option. The link is:

I know many of us have been searching for a solution to this problem. Hopefully this is a good one!

Gee let's all just bid for it at once....We need to find a company that fixes these LCD's...

OLT what can you do for the climates? Anything, if so do you have any pics?

PS...Some of my Ultra bright white back ground dash lights on my cluster have gone dead...What can you do for me it's only been one year?...It's just the one area where the RPM redline read begins, it's completely darkened...I know you use some kinda of circuitry and not bulbs, any thoughts on why it burned out so fast and how I can somehow fix this?...It kinda messing up my real nice dash look that you made possible.....

FWIW, I went with this person for my LCD repair after trolling the CL classifieds for a good condition used unit to no avail. You can email him and ask for a price to buy the LCD without dealing with Ebay (I kept getting outbid). I did that and I believe it was $125 for the LCD inclding labor to install/solder the LCD. It takes him about a day to do the installation. Real stand up guy and I'm happy with my LCD. Time will tell if it lasts more than 2 years.

The used LCD ebay screens will blacken in time too...Don't spend too much on them unless they are brand new...

get these guys to do it for you...

http://www.lextech.org/osCommerce/

i think OLT was just ordering the specific bulbs for people bc he found a good deal, you would have to do it yourself

send these guys your unit and they will do all the work for you, roughly 50$ for the climate and 100-200$ for the Cluster depending on what you want

besides, OLT hasn't responded to my inquiry's in his sticky about those lights for prob a month now :-/
