Default Overdrive light flashing

hey guys

i recently bought a 96 GT T soarer and loving the new baby. I have just noticed that when the overdrive is on the O/D flickers on and off. i dont know if it is ment to be like that but have just noticed it today?? any help?? Its also feeling abit sluggish when i put my foot down and noticed some differnce , Any input would be appreciated. thanks

Is it shifting right? I know my 1JZ is a dog if u keep it under 3k rpms. On the highway it cruises at 2600 @ 80mph, u can almost goto 2nd gear

i have the exact same problem but it is intermittent. sometimes it doesnt happen and sometimes it comes on for a little while and flashes and then throughout the course of driving itll stop. oh by the way my car is a 92 ' sc400 so basically the same just the american version

Welcome to CL! Kamusta Ka?

Run a diagnostic on the ECT. There is a diagnostic port on the bottom right of the dash (Soarer) that plugs into a diagnostics decoder. Check out Soarer Central for more specific information too.

I had the same issue with my '92 400 - i posted the fix @

easy fix... rat chewed through the speed sensor wires

ahh ok im heading over there in a few weeks for a holiday. Just wondering well the diagnosis tell me if it is the solenoids? Does the diagnosis pin point the problem when u do this?

Ahh ok then cool, probably end up staying somewhere near Blacktown if you're gonna be around Filos hahaha

The diagnostic would throw up a code on the machine if there were faulty solenoids. If there's no faulty solenoids then the gearbox could be going.

Ahh ok. hanvnt goten to doin it yet coz the guy who i went to dosnt have the software to do it. The gear box seems fine n changes into gears fine...the o/d light seems to flash on some deays and on others not...its not constantly flashing..hoping its just a loose connection and nothing to serious.:
