This has been asked about several times but never answered. Some have responded that there is no code 41. I think it's actually code 14 as the longest delay occurs between the 4 and the 1 and not the other way around.
I'm getting this code after re-installing my steering wheel. I assume I got it because I drove the car without the airbag to check steering wheel alignment. The airbag cable is firmly in place so I'm sure it's just a matter of clearing the code.
However, the procedure isn't working. I've tried it dozens of times. I have 1 paper clip in the Tc connecor and 1 paper clip in the AB connector. Each paper clip has a wire firmly twisted on. Each wire has another paper clip at the other end. Ground Tc cause the airbag light to go out. Grounding the AB doesn't seem to do anything, but touch the Tc wire to the AB wire cause the same effect as ground the Tc wire, so the AB wire must have a good connection.
I've tried the alternating ground starting with Tc first, then AB, then TC, then AB, then TC and hold it to ground. The code will not clear. I've tried this dozens of times. Anyone know what 14 means?
I have this same issue...I don't remember if it's actually 14 or 41 because it was a few weeks ago I tried to clear it, but its definately one of those numbers.
Go under the hood and open the diagnostic cap located on the passenger-side near the firewall (see photo). Look for AB & TC. Make two plugs with wire to fit into these connectors. With the ignition key turned to the ON position alternate the two wires to the negative terminal of the battery. They need to be done in a consistent rhythm, about one second apart. TC,AB,TC,AB,TC,AB... This needs to be done several times. If you can't get it to work, try adjusting the speed. It is helpful to have someone look at the airbag light while performing this to let you know when the light goes out/blink.
I can see the airbag light while doing it(using the door hinge bolt attached to the body which is has exposed metal. How does looking at the airbag light help? Note: When I ground Tc, the light goes out after about 1/2 second. When I ground AB the light does not go out. Interestingly, when I cross Tc with AB (just for kicks), the light also goes out as if I'd ground Tc.
it's user error if you can;t do it. timing is everything and many who have tried it 4 times got it on the 5th. Just user error, but i admit, it can be a hassle if you dont time it right.
The procedure you guys are talking about is for code 22 which is from the dash having been out. I don't know if the same procedure applies to this 41/14 code or not. Sorka said his was caused by driving with the airbag out, I'm not sure about mine because I just got the car.
Finally got it. The thing I did differently this time was when doing the alternating between Tc and AB, I made sure that one of the two were always touching ground. Before I would lift Tc and a split second later touch AB and then lift, then touch Tc etc. The thing that got me to realize this was the key was that the folks that have been successful clearing the code were the ones that used the toggle switch which would effectively do the same thing but a lot more precisely.
Still wish I knew what 14 was just so I know that it was really from what I think it is.
Sorka the code 14 is for either turbocharger preasure and or ignition signal.
error code 41 is throttle position sensor (which I still have since changing my 02 sensors 6months ago,heh I've been a little buisy I'll get to it guys )
"never put off today what you can put off till tommorow!" words to live by!?

Um, we're talking the airbag light, not the engine check light. Go back and look for the list of airbag codes, not engine codes.
