Default Yes/No … tell me why

Soooo … I’m heading to the dealer tomorrow to test-drive a new RZ premium … MSRP = $63,500

Dealer says they’ll do a lease-deal that includes a $10,000 credit from Lexus Financial and an additional $4,000 off MSRP. That brings the cost to $49,500 + TTL. btw … according to their web site the have a total of 41 RZs either on the lot or in-bound.

I work from home most of the time, and drive our RX for errands and local runs … about 500 miles per month. And we have our NX300h for longer trips.

I know that the RZ range is lacking, but given the build quality and reliability of Lexus, does the RZ make sense to you?

btw … gas here is right at $6.00 per gallon.

What say ye?

tia … Mike

I’d say yes

we live in the Dfw area and my wife and I work from home as well.
we also own a gx for the longer trips that we take out of town.

the RZ is perfect for us for the occasional errands we do throughout the week.

the build quality is top notch as you know.

It made sense to me, which is why we own an RZ. It is a wonderful, comfortable around-town driver, has plenty of cargo space for gardening supplies and new plants, and seats another couple. We traded in the IS250C on it. And we kept our LX for the very rare long trip we may take.

Haters bemoan the lack of a frunk, the 200-ish mile range, the lack of a glove compartment, annoying warning beeps, and the absence of leather. but haters gonna find things to hate.

There is plenty of storage without a frunk. No frunk allows the lightweight aluminum hood to skip the installation of two heavy hood struts to save weight. There is storage under the floor of the trunk. If you have a garage, a level 2 charger in it, and use it as a town car, 200 miles is plenty of range and you will likely never need to go searching for a charging station. The center console has two storage areas, both readily at hand, so having no glove box collecting unused junk does not bother us at all. The warning beeps are all re-programmable to silence them. I did it with my DB8BT bi-directional tool at home, but the dealer will do it for you. They have a menu from which you choose how you’d like them to set up the sounds. And the suede is really nice looking and comfortable; moreso than the leather on my previous six Lexuses.

Plus there is service. No other car dealer in my town offers service amenities approaching Lexus, including BMW, Volvo, Audi, GMC, Mercedes, or Cadillac. We have owned each of these brands. For Lexus, the dealer located 70 miles away sends a driver to my home to pick up my Lexuses, drops off a Lexus loaner, and then delivers my Lexus to my home when service is completed. What other EV selling company is going to offer that level of service?

I read recently that “range anxiety” is really a misnomer and that a better term would be “charging station availability anxiety.” How true. I get about 250 miles of range from my LX, but I have no range anxiety driving it because I know there will always be an open gasoline station available somewhere nearby.

Thanks for the thoughtful responses.

So for the reasons mentioned here, plus our situation,

First Level-1 charge at home
and the super incentives being offered (the Lexus $10,000 EV Lease Incentive, the dealer discount along with the miltary discount) we traded the RX-L and pulled the trigger for this Premium Eminent White Pearl with Paolino.

It’s an amazing vehicle. More to come, but right now we’re blown away by our first experiences with this EV.

btw … I passed by the gas station we usually use this morning and the mid-grade gas is at $6.57 @ gallon today. 🙃😖

Default New RZ

Congratualtions! We took advantage of the $10,000 discount for leasing too, along with a few dealer discounts and scored our RZ. Very lucky because Lexus was (is?) not shipping many to Washington state. I was told it was because other states like California was offering Lexus big discounts to ship there first.
My first expereince with leasing, but the $10K discount selaed the deal. AND, I like the fact that in three years I have the option to lease a newer RZ. That somewhat hedges my bets on the new batteries Lexus is working on which are rumored to very long range... like many hundreds of miles. We'll see on that, but in the meantime, we all are enjoying the RZ... fantastic car and ride.

Makes sense to me. Based on your driving will have to charge every four days. Who cares about the shorter range. I would not take it on a long trip anyway. $6.00 you must be in CA which has the highest prices in America. 20% higher than Washington at #2.

Question

The RZ Lease Incentive is now 15.000 dollars

So, is my math correct?

36 months at 500 a month

Plus 5.000 due on delivery

Minus 15.000 incentive

That would be 222.00 a month for 36 months?
