2 months ago we bought a Certified Premium 2016 RX350 with 11,340 miles on it. We noticed there was no cargo shade that came with it, but there is a spot for it too sit. Seeing how this was presented as a Certified Premium we asked the dealer about getting the cargo shade and was told that it wasn't standard an we would need to purchase. Just curious if that is the case or not as I cannot get a straight answer.

I have purchased three over the last five years and they all came with it. It was not an option. Now that's in Canada so it might be different in the States.
I would guess that the dealer never noticed it was missing when it was traded in and doesn't want to give you one. Some people take them off and toss them in the garage because they can rattle.

As far as i am aware it is a standard item that is included.
I looked at the spec sheet for my vehicle and it is not listed as an additional cost..
i also don't it see listed on the options and/or accessories when building the RX on the lexus site..
if you have the time and willingness.. maybe go back into the dealer as if you are buying a new RX.. and causally ask about it.. This is disingenuous... but its irritating of the dealer to skimp on something so trivial..

The. cargo shade is a standard feature on the vehicle, not an option. I agree, many people take them out in order to transport taller items, and yes sometimes to avoid rattling. They are mainly used to hide and protect your your belongings when traveling, that is if your luggage is not piled up to high!

No doubt it is standard, I have even had the dealer ask if I still had mine when trading it in. It is the first thing I take out when I buy a new RX.
The dealer should provide on as it is a standard item included with ALL RX units.

I wish the cargo cover could be stored in the car when not used. Some vehicles have such nice designs to store the cargo cover in under floor storage.

I toss the cover out and it lives in the garage. Little use for this cover for me.Originally Posted by guxu

Thanks for info. Not saying we will ever use it, but I still want it whether it sits in the car or garage. Not happy with being told I would have to purchase it. Thanks for the brochure will have to bring it in an show them.

Don't worry too much about being lied to by a dealer. After 56 vehicles I've heard it all.... Bye the way, enjoy your new ride!
FYI...The cargo cover is not on the checklist for a CPO Lexus.

The NX has storage slot under the rear panel, above the spare tire. Probably good idea for NX since cargo space is so limited, little use for it.Originally Posted by guxu

I bet you could buy one online for $50, brand new. I think BMW wanted $500 for the X5 cargo cover and they sold all day on Craigslist for almost nothing. Mine rattled and got in the way, never used it.Originally Posted by direwolf

I did not get one with my Lexus but if I did I would give it away.

When I need to take mine out for quick overloads. I usually tuck it at the base of the rear seats on the floor and stand it flap up. Doesn't get in the way of rear passenger's feet and the cover is not tall enough to hit anyones thigh out back. I leave my cover on normally, doesn't rattle for me so all good.Originally Posted by guxu

Lead Lap
I removed mine since it got in the way most of the time for me.
Plus, after i installed 3M Crystalline 40% tint on my rear windows, you can't really see what's in the trunk from the outside anyways...

Well it's the wifes car and she wanted the shade. She talked to GM yesterday and was told to swing by the dealership to pick one up.She got it today & doesn't rattle so she is happy.
