Default Broke Driver's Side Mirror

I bumped a pole and broke the driver's side mirror (Mirror only). The power function still works, so all I need is the mirror and backing. The housing appears to be fine. Model is a 2008 RX350.

I was looking online and could not fine just the mirror for sale - only the entire assembly. Does anyone know if I can purchase only the mirror? If so, any suggestions where? I have not checked with a dealer yet as there is no dealer in my city of Hilo, HI.

Thanks for any input!

p.s. This is my family 3rd RX and we love them!

I hate to tell you this but I think Lexus will only replace the entire mirror assembly. The cost is $400 plus. Your vehicle insurance may cover some of this.

Welcome to Club Lexus.

Your only bet may be to check some of the junk yards on the west coast. Such as: http://www.greenleafauto.com/

My 08's driver side mirror was seperated from the body at the top of the mirror and I took it to the dealer. The dealer told me that it must be someone hang on the mirror so that the internal structure of the mirror was broken. The cpst of the replacement of the mirror assembly was $700.

I didn't really want to pay that $700 if I don't have to. So I open the side panel of the door and managed to find that the bouse of the screw used to fasten the mirrow to the body was broken and I used super glue to get it repaired.

It has been more than 8 month so far and the morror was working well.

AT the time I was trying to find cheaper assembly, I found some one is selling aftermarket assembly at about $250 with autodim. Search for eBay and you will find it. I was going to buy one if super glue couldn't fix it.

Thanks again to all for your assistance. Mahalo!

One more thing that I just discovered...when the mirror cracked, some green fluid dripped out of the mirror and on to the silver paint. Since it happened in the middle of the day (yesterday), I just left it thinking I would clean it up after I went home. I think the fluid is something to do with the "anti-glare."

I tried washing it off...no luck. Next I tried regular polish...still no luck. this morning, I tried polishing compound and it still doesn't completely come off. The surface liquid came off, but it left a brownish colored stain where the liquid was I can't seem to get the stain off. Now it appears that I might have to re-paint the door too! This little incident has turned into a disaster.

I broke my mirror and the local Lexus dealer tells me that there is nothing I can use to get it off. They say that it has to be buffed out and repainted... I real about in Club Lexus that someone had this problem years ago. I am really suprised and disappointed that Lexus would even use something that would damage a vehicle like that. And green... they should at least use a clear color.

This is the 2nd time I have read about the fluid used in auto dimming. Bad stuff.

Bajong, will you take a picture of the damage and post it?

Just FYI, brake fluid and battery acid will cause serious paint damage too. I can't believe Lexus can't figure out a way to build cars without something that would damage a vehicle.
