5th gen RX merged rumor and launch threads
I have no doubt the performance will be fine if you are okay with the current performance. My hangup with four cylinders is that they simply feel and sound inferior for a luxury brand. When I had BMWs (a V8 and and an in-line six) I almost always got four cylinder loaners. I never liked them. I know a lot about engines and understand that they can use a variety of means to make them run smoothly. But when I pay for an upscale vehicle I want the visceral experience to be upscale as well.
ugh this infotainment is exactly what i hated on the new NX. this car is a hard no for me. turbo4, piano black everywhere, and stupid UI. None of these things are appealing. add a beluga bulge head and im waiting for the 6th gen RX or at least the mid cycle refresh
I'm with you. We have a 2017 as well with 70K on the clock and it's still in perfect condition. The new MDX is looking more and more like a better choice in this class.
Someone else asked, and I’ll second the ask: What exactly is so bad about the NX infotainment system?
At least in the CRV I used to have, the Honda AWD system is poor in the snow. Maybe they have improved it in recent years to include the MDX system, I don't know. And if you don't need a 7 seater, the MDX is costing you space/length to host those two rear jump seats. Those were both negative factors in my MDX cross shop ranking. I am interested to hear what other vehicles people looking at the new RX, are cross shopping, in addition to the MDX.
OK, they had some media event in California - so new videos are coming in, I will post one more. My personal takeaway from this one, that Mica blue color is too dark for my tastes, I have to get it off my pre-order.

Consumer Reports doesn't have a great rating for the LS500 under the engine section last I read it.
Did they fix the problems on the newer models?

Most manufactures including Honda, Acura, Hyundai, VW, BMW doesn't appear to have good reliability with turbo.
Hopefully, Lexus/Toyota have better reliability. I sure like my vehicle to last over 100K miles with the same engine.

All the brands you cited had engine problems that had nothing to with turbos : fuel injection & timing chain problems for BMW, timing chain & plastic water pump for VW and Hyundai that are catching fire.
There is nothing wrong with infotainment on the latest Lexus vehicles. At first it is not user friendly as in most things tech wise, after you play and live with it for a while there are no issues. Do not let this stop you from some of the best cars globally.
