5th gen RX merged rumor and launch threads
As anticipated, the V6 is gone
. No mention I can see about fuel type. If it's premium required, that'll be a problem for me at least. I'll certainly not be an early adopter. If we replace our 2020, it'll be after the first refresh.

I wanted to see the plug in, not sure why they havent shown it yet, you cant even order it for months. I suspect the F Sport is a rigid / stiffer ride. and nothing said if we have to put premium fuel in these yet. I am disappointed,, Ill look elsewhere... If only i could get a RAV 4 Prime,
Yep I thought of a whale/dolphin too. The way they executed that grill is ridiculous. Looks cheap/unfinished. And that bulbous nose up top. Super super ugly/weird.
They should've left the grill alone. They succumbed to internet haters (lets face it car bros) who kept complaining about the spindle grill instead of embracing it and evolving it. It looks like a cheap toy now.
The rest is nice though. nice interior. nice rear... except for the lower valence on the rear bumper.. more dolphin activity.

I think in one of the video reviews I saw a spare. So who knows? I remember when run flats first came out on the BMW 3 Series in 2007 (first time i remember seeing them on production car anyway) and everyone complained. Are they still bad in 2022?
I'm not sure how I feel about this new design. It looks like they crashed it into the wall first. The weird way the grill transitions into the body is odd. The loss of the V6 (which runs on regular) and the addition of the turbo (which will likely require premium, my NX did) is a step in the wrong direction (in my opinion). I like the interior, the new technology is a welcome change, will that alone be enough for me to go to that model? Only time will tell. My 2016 is still running strong, but it I may upgrade to a 2021/2022 and "wait and see" on the 2023 and newer. I'll get carplay with anything 2020 or newer, so I will likely go with a 2021/2022. I'm curious if prices will drop on those models when the new ones come out. To be fair, I hated the initial look of the grill on the 2016 but over time, I warmed up to it. I'm really not sure if I can get past that flat look on the 2023.
The new front end appears to be competing with a similar look on other higher-end SUVs -- Nissan Armada, Genesis, etc. It doesn't bother me. Exhaust normally comes out the end of a pipe, but I guess if they want to run it through a pair of decorative strainers, OK. I could probably be happy with the exterior, and the interior is the same color scheme as my 2018. But the 4-banger with a turbo is a non-starter with me, period. If my 2018 doesn't last until I'm done driving, I'll replace it with something else.
