Fuel Additives/direct injection
Helllo All,
just wondering - given the use of direct injection in our cars, how much benefit is there to using additives such as Techron or BG44 since the fuel doesn’t wash over the intake valves to clean them?
thoughts?
Thanks.

Just acquired a CPO 2024 RX. 30k miles. Don’t know what the prior owner used - I use Chevron because ofTechron.
just thinking I’ll run a bottle through but read that the direct injection cars are prone to carbon on. The intake valves because the fuel doesn’t wash over them.
Probably overthinking it.

I use top-tier gas whenever possible, but where I live a top-tier gas is not always available when I need fuel. I also run a tank of Redline SI-1 fuel system cleaner prior to every oil change (5,000 miles). Amazon often has good deals on this product. I'm sure that many folks will claim that this treatment is not necessary, and maybe it isn't, but I keep my vehicles for many years (20+) so I consider this cheap insurance. As mentioned, the duel injection is better at preventing deposits than DI only.
