The Lexus traffic jam assist, which allows hands free driving and does work well, only functions up to 25mph, which is too limiting. I've noticed that BMW offers hands free highway driving up to 85MPH in the X5, which would be great for long road trips. This is a feature that might make me jump ship. I'm hoping Lexus is thinking about adding this feature to the RX next year.
I wouldn't expect the Rx to have this until 2030 at least. Toyota is always behind the ball on tech like this. For reference, the $45k trim of the new Subaru Outback now has hands free highway driving up to 85mph
My last two top trim Outbacks had it ('21 and '24).
No it did not. Hands free driving assist is new for 2026. Supervised driving assists have existed since Eyesight became available, that is not Hands Free.

Well, I could take my hands off the wheel at highway speed, using lane keep for extended period of time. Sure seems like hands free driving, at least Level 2.
There's an 11 year old video on YT of a driver getting out of the driver's seat and moving to the passenger seat, at highway speeds. It was in an Infiniti Q50S.

Unexpected, but you are right. It's included in the Outback Limited trim packages. It would make sense for Lexus to offer this next year, starting with the RX.
I discovered that Lexus already has something called "Advanced Drive" in the teammate package. But in limited models and not the RX, yet. One can hope. Lexus Teammate: Advanced Drive is an SAE Level 2 automated driving system available on select Lexus models (e.g., 2022+ LS 500h) that provides hands-off, eyes-on highway driving assistance.
Me personally, I keep my hands on the wheel at all times and drive my own car myself, I've only been doing it for 50 years, I for one certainly don't need all that BS on a vehicle.
The Lexus system is terrible. The way it oscillates in the lane, the way it changes lanes. The lane keeping assistant is almost worthless. Go drive a new model Y with Hw4 and FSD V14. The self driving is so astounding, that I ordered one as my second car right after the test drive.
