Hi, I bought rx500h 2026. It comes with 2 fobs and one smart key card.
Is it correct? Why only one smart key?

I just got an Iridium/Rioja Red 2026 500h F Sport a few weeks ago. I also got two fobs and one key card.

I was surprised at the key card since previous years did not give you a key card. I had a 25 RX 350 FSD a month ago and it only came with 2 key fobs and no key card.

I was told that if you want another one, you will have to purchase it. Sucks.

 

You're lucky you got at least one. Most of us don't get one, only the fobs. But yes, this is correct.

 

Are the card keys another one of those "subscription" money-grabs? Do their abilities stop after a period of years?


I'm still trying to find the hand-crank for when our engine starter stops working....

 

The Card Key was an LS exclusive early on and has been a limited package option lately.
Slim and convenient, the Card Key does not have the buttons required to remote start our
cars using the three-press cadence. Note: a Lexus will not lock if a key is inside. Please do
not leave the Card Key inside...for use later... because you will get the chirps and a no lock
condition. The conventional 4 button remote can be rendered inert if you wish to leave it
inside while hiking, biking, kayaking or other activities that you don't want to carry the heavy,
not waterproof and expensive fob. Press and hold the lock button while pressing the unlock
button twice. The red guide light will flash 4 times and the fob is dead. Pressing any button
will reactivate the fob. Used to be easy to slip the mechanical key blade out to unlock the
car when you returned but now the driver's door key cylinder is hidden under a stylish but
awkward to remove trim piece. Using the Lexus App in your phone to unlock is possible but
then you need to take the heavy, not waterproof and expensive phone while you kayak!

 

It's a $375 option, Digital Key (requires Remote Connect* subscription; 3-year trial included) and SmartAccess key card.

After 3 years, you may have to pay the Remote Connect subscription to use the key card. ****could be wrong, maybe only the Digital Key from lexus app require Remote Connect subscription.

You are confusing the Card Key which is $375 to buy but free to use with the
#$%& Digital Key which is free with the Lexus App but not worth even free...

Idea is that instead of carrying a heavy key fob, you can carry a heavier cell phone.
You can get it to work in an area with strong enough cell signal but it will fail
you without notice when you try to use it.

 

This. The physical smart key only needs a battery replacement (i believe)but no subscription requires.

The digital key (using your own phone as a key) is crap and barely works.

 

Correct it came with my NX450H it plastic credit card key, and got 2 other key fobs. I find it strange that I got it with NX, but not 450H RX.

 

Wife's 2023 NX350H came with two fobs and wallet card. She uses her card all the time. My 2024 RX350H did not come with one but ordered from online the card and key. My local Lexus dealer programmed the card and cut the key. So nice not carrying the fob anymore. Card fits right in my wallet. Well well worth the money.
