Has anyone had trouble with Apple Car Play? My 2024 RX will not lower the volume on the radio when playing a text through Apple car play. Brought it in to shop and have called Lexus in an effort to resolve this issue and have been told that it is an issue with software that needs to be updated by Lexus.
That's just how the Lexus infotainment system works with CarPlay. Music continues playing and the CarPlay voice plays with a bias towards the front driver side of the vehicle. While Siri is talking you can use the volume **** to increase/decrease the volume of Siri, relative to your music. Try increasing it to make it easier to hear.
It doesn’t make sense to have to lower or raise your volume to try to strain to hear what the text message says. My 2019 Nissan automatically lowered the radio volume when playing texts and then raised it when text was done. If they ( and numerous other far less expensive brands) figured this out pre 2019, then I would think Lexus could by now too…no??

I'm not saying it was a good design choice; I'm just saying it is working the way Lexus wanted.
There are many things on these vehicles that don't work well, despite the technology having been figured out long ago by others.
Our 2023 lowers the volume when CarPlay 'speaks' text messages. Works the same as @Kensington 's Nissan.
(Some of my other cars' radios totally turn off head unit volume while Siri talks. )
The Carplay volume should be adjusted while Siri is speaking. Ask her something lengthy like "What's the Weather?"
That gives you time to find a suitable balance.
Is there an option in the infotainment for adjusted volume in those situations? I thought that I remember seeing adjustments somewhere in the settings to adjust volumes for different sources.
Maybe I imagined that though.

Are you listening to music through CarPlay as well when it plays a text message?

System volume slider. You can also adjust it like CarBuff said in the second part of his post, while the head unit is speaking.
