Less than a week and 183 miles on my brand new Iridium RX350 Luxury, I have the following problems:
- Side mirror doesn’t dim
- Seat belt tensioner doesn’t retract
- Numerous error messages:
Advanced Ultrasonic Detecting and Ranging System
Drive-Start Control System
Check Engine
Are these a fluke or is quality going down? I’m a long time new Toyota and Lexus buyer and have never had issues with a brand new car.
I had my dealer come tow it away for repair but haven’t heard back yet.
Like Dad always said, "Never buy the first model year of anything". We did/are, but I assumed it was more of a refresh, so the litany of issues is a bit puzzling? Long Covid supply chain issues? There sure seem to be a lot of things and yours sound more than cosmetic.
I have a loner today 2023 350RX h and the drivers side temperature does not adjust. Passenger side is fine, spin the dial left and right and it adjusts.
Driver side no response.
A little bit having to do with first-year production, but also growing pains. I posted about this a few years ago and I predicted next-round Lexus generations have to catch up/compete with "the germans" by having an increasing number of features/tech/networks in the car, the reliability and quality will take a hit. That often repeated "Lexus legendary reliability/problem free" description is true, but mostly as to your old fashioned Lexus ES300 with a V6 and a 4 or 5 speed auto. Maybe even last gen RX. Things are much different in 2023 and Toyota/Lexus is quickly adding tech to existing ICE platforms and then now again they're having to make yet another about-face to BEVs in quick succession-- so it's going to be pretty challenging for them because the status quo is changing rapidly and forcing them to evolve much faster than they're comfortable with. Lexus prefers to evolve mature technology slowly. Today, they can't rely on old practices which is the best way to stay reliable especially with a conservative company. Hopefully your issues will get resolved quickly.
Nothing like those reported here before. The first one sounds like one of the sensors is bad or was hit by a stone, etc. The second one is more concerning, does the engine start at all or does it have to be towed to the dealer?

Which side mirror doesn't dim? Only drivers side actually dims on 2023.
To answer a few questions above: Yes, car runs. Dealer (and I agree) preferred to tow it on a flatbed truck.
According to my tech department and the manual, both side view mirrors should be auto dimming.
I am currently away until next week but have been monitoring the app and the AirTag I have installed. They’ve driven it several times and returned it to their shop each time. All of the error messages remain.
Hopefully the hard fail means definitive resolution.

Tech department is wrong. While the manual does say mirrors plural and not driver's side mirror, only the driver's side is autodimming (The NX manual has the same error). You can tell the difference between the two types of mirrors by looking at their edges.
We are having same engine code issues. They are on a second attempt to repair. Do you have any updates on what they have done to try and reslove your issue?

Here is the receipt detailing the issues. No problems with this since.
I feel your pain. We have had many issues with the infotainment system. At the dealership as we speak. Very frustrating. I have always had good reliability with Lexus/Toyota, My opinion has been changed that Lexus is a cut above the rest.

Sorry to hear that- I’m remaining hopeful after decades of reliable Toyotas. I hope this is the last round of troubles.
