Problems with brand new RX350?
Hi All. Brand new to this forum and to considering a Lexus. I don't buy cars often, but I get the car bug every couple years. Never considered spending enough for a Lexus, but am getting annoyed with road noise, and am thinking maybe I should splurge on a luxury vehicle. (I know, there are ways to reduce road noise on any vehicle, but it's a good excuse to splurge). I've never really been a fan of the look of most Lexuses (Lexi???), but I have to say the 2023 RX has really caught my eye, and from what I can tell, seems to be about the right size. (Unfortunately, I don't have a local dealer, so am trying to do as much research as possible before driving over an hour to the nearest one). I've seen various posts about issues people have had with the 2023, but I'm curious if anyone has a list of relatively common 1st-year issues in the 2023 that they expect to be resolved for the 2024 model???? Thanks in advance.
When I decided to get two luxury cars/ the one thing I didn’t consider was road noise. What a nice surprise. Both my ‘22 and ‘23 are by far the quietest cars I’ve ever owned- so nice. Yes,if you always harshly accelerate the ‘23, there will be road noise due to the 4 cyl motor. On the freeway it is very quiet.
The problems that I mention in this post have been fixed. I’m at 3700 miles now and absolutely love this car. Search my name on this site and read my most recent comments in other threads.

I don't think so. The competing cars in this segment don't have "loud" engines from their 4 cylinder turbos. It's only really raspy on heavy acceleration, but the Germans are quieter, and in this segment quiet=smooth. In other words, the raspiness makes for a less smooth experience, even though power delivery is actually smooth.

Toyota's 2.5l 4 cylinder engine has always been noisy. I looked at a 2021 Rav4 and ended up buying a Honda CRV hybrid that year as it was quieter. Lexus does have a little more noise insulation but it still noisy when accelerating compared to it's competition.
Yes...but that's a different engine altogether.
It is the same 2.5L engine (A25A-FXS) for both the RAV4 Hybrid and the RX350H; it has been used since 2017/2018 in numerous Toyota/Lexus hybrid models. Good reliability, but noted as having quite a bit of noise/vibration under WOT.
Westwind says he has a 350 Luxury.
Only had my 2023 Lexus 350rx for 1 week. Today, when I started the car, I got the Drive-Start Control Malfunction. I noticed that some of you said the battery, but I shouldn't be having that problem yet!!! Sounds like they still don't have this problem worked out.
Hmm you might have a different issue since yours is the new 5th gen RX. If it's not a different issue, then the issue is the battery located in the engine bay. I would go to the dealer and see if they'll replace the battery.
I am also thinking since this problem is related to safety systems. The reason someone of us aren’t having these glitches is because we have shut them off manually. I have every system shut off expect collision migration, so curious if by doing that we are avoiding this issue from arising.
It not just Lexus but they have now over taken our cars with this no-sense that is nothing but distraction. Yes collision migration and parking / blind sensors are good but everything else that takes over and causes nothing but beeping are distractions. If you have these systems on even if your driving normal the car is applying the brakes on its own without you doing anything but maybe driving to close or going fast on turn. I had first thought it was some kind of overspeed or transmission issue no it was car self braking bc it thought I was driving to aggressive. Worst things is Lexus doesn’t even know how it operates or should.
Maybe it strikes cord with me bc I am commercial pilot and experience same kinda nonsense on newer aircraft builds. They finally have made it easy for us to simply shut off these types of systems which cause unnecessary noise and pure distraction. Computers are great, so is safety features, but any operator needs to be able to have control.

The only thing I have off is the lane departure steering control, although I do turn that on sometimes as its required for the traffic jam assistant. I wonder, when you turn that off, will it still steer to avoid a side impact collision?
