Hi everyone,

Has anyone tried to remove the dash trim on RX500h?
I've attached a photo here for reference.
I cannot see any screws anywhere... I even went to Lexus dealership and they didn't even know and basically said that "we're going to charge by the hour and figure it out".. Like what.

Anyway I would much appreciate some guidance, I rather not break the trim if I can help it.

Thanks in advance

Not surprising that the tech at your local dealership do not know how to remove your dash. They do not regularly have a need to do so. When and if required, they would get instructions from Lexus.

Everything is attached with either clips or friction. Some piece are likely not made to be removed.

Yeah my kid threw my wife's diamond earring into the driver side air went, don't get me started...

And I'm not an expert but looks to me the whole trim is connected so trying to get it off for a better look to see if we get lucky. I already tried the gum on a stick solution. Did not work! Sigh... last thing I want is gum get stuck in the went

Vacuum is the way to go.

I know AC vents on cars are held in by clips (assuming Toyota uses the same setup as an Mercedes I did this on), and there is a metal loop inside the vent assembly. You reach in with thin metal hooking device, grab the loop, pull it (in whatever direction it moves), and that recesses the tabs so the piece can be slid out. Try and find a youtube video of it being done to give you an idea.

And get the car to cooperate - put fan/aircon on max and close all other vents. Reverse vacuum

Places like Grainger sell a fiber optic camera with an 12-18” reach that you could use for the day to find it. They accept returns if repackaged back like you got it.

You could also try a spring claw. My Home Depot has them for under $5.
