Yeah, the subscription thing for remote start sucks. Try this instead…

To start it, you click the remote lock button twice, and then click the lock button down a third time hold it down for about 10 seconds and the vehicle will start up.

repost:
The 2018 (except GX) and 2019 (all models) are the sweet spot in the Lexus Enform saga.
These have 120 months - 10 years of the Safety Connect and enabled fob remote start.
The phone app had a 12 month - 1 year trial and is $80/year for the find/follow/monitor/Remote Start.

2020 and newer Lexi have the 36 month - 3 year trial for everything, phone app, fob RS, Dynamic Voice
and Dynamic Navigation on those with Nav. When subscribing after the trial it is $80/year for the Safety
Connect and an additional $80/year for the phone And fob RS.

Angry paying for an app for a car i've already paid for

I've spent approximately 70K for an 2020 RX350 (2nd one) and have been a 3 time Lexus owner of 3 brand new cars and the app on my phone won't work unless i pay $10 per month .... what a cheap thing to do! anyone else feel this way?

The way of the world - nickel and dime us to death.. We have a brand new NX350 and because we opted for the smaller in dash screen we are expected to pay for navigation. Considering how crappy the Lexus navigation system is, there's no way in hell I'm paying for it. Eventually they think we'll pay for two other subscriptions but except for whichever scheme it is that give my wife remote start that ain't happening either.

What app and who are you paying? You have AA and ACP with a '20 RX.

Lexus provides a 3 year subscription to the remote services when purchased new. If your dealer didn't tell you shame on him. I pay the $80 per year for the service that provides remote start, lock and unlock. None of the other "apps" are of any use to me. Nothing in life is "free".

I live in the No. East and My RX sits in the driveway. If I know it is going to snow I set the defroster on and raise the temperature all the way up. After the snow I remote start the car either once or twice and I don't have to clear the windows. I do the opposite during the summer in real hot weather. Well worth it to me. $80 is not going to break me.

I pay the fee but I’m not thrilled about it. I’m not going to defend auto manufacturers (which all have the same challenge by the way) but there is a recurring cost associated with the provision of these services. The services require a cellular data connection, or access to map data in the case of nav. But many people don’t want these services, so they don’t want to pay for them. If a manufacturer raises the MSRP in order to bake these costs into the purchase price, then everyone pays for them. Which methodology is really the best? Now I don’t imagine for a moment that the manufacturer doesn’t tack on some profit margin to these fees, but I doubt it is that much considering the fees are relatively low.

Obviously, you have to be in relatively short range for this to work. There is a fair bit of debate over whether this feature on the remote control continues if the subscription expires. I do not know the answer to this debate as I maintain my subscription. Sadly, most manufacturers today use subscriptions to pay for the overhead, like cellular connectivity, as well as pad their profits of course. I'm not sure you will find a new well-equipped vehicle today that doesn't have a subscription to maintain certain features.
Three press works subscription or none. I believe it's good for ten years.

If it works then great, but the range is very close distance making it of a limited use or even useless unless the vehicle is right outside your windows.
The app also allows to remotely check if doors are locked/unlocked, if windows are closed, tire pressure, level of gas in the tank, etc.
If those features important to the driver, then subscription is needed.
