Bro! I feel ya! I was rear-ended about 55-65mph back on 5/1/21. A police chase up a freeway ended where I was sitting at a stoplight. Drunk driver. No brakes. Totalled me. Hope you are okay! I am still recovering (lower back issues mostly). This is the 2018 Civic that hit me
Getting rear ended sucks, more so when standing still on dry pavement, good weather and clear sight lines.
Hoping she had insurance or money in the bank. The two times I was rear-ended, I opted for having the car totaled and sold the carcass off for parts and scrap. The seats, engine, front lights, audio system and air bags and catalytic converter got me a nice chunk of change, over and above what the car was worth at the time.
So if you can, get what you can from insurance, sell off what's left (if they don't haul it off), and put it all towards your replacement. Hopefully this current market, will get you a decent amount for the car.
One thing, ask your insurance company if they can request the computer readings at impact, from the car that hit you. A buddy of mine asked, and it showed the speed the guy was going, the fact the brakes were not engaged. Sadly the guy's dash cam had been erased (one that shows front, rear and driver views), funny that. 🤬
The Automatic Braking won't work if the vehicle in front is standstill and the car is travelling at/over 70 km/h
That's one of the reason if I see stopped traffic in front/ If I am the last car I will turn on my hazards until I am certain people behind me saw me

I'm the same way, I tend to tap my brakes a lot to create a flashing affect until I know the guy behind me is stopping.
Wow, so glad it protected you. Sorry it got totaled, but you will probably make out well with the low mileage. Hassel to find a replacement now. We are looking at a RX350 in the near future and I'm glad to see they are this safe! Hope you find a wonderful replacement.
