Default Side Mirror Cover Swap

This is a base model RX mod. So, if you haven't noticed, the F-Sport trim comes stock with gloss black side mirror covers regardless of the main vehicle color. I know Audi does this with their "Black Optics" package which all the trim comes black (aka chrome delete) in addition to black side mirrors. I actually don't mind some of the chrome found on our RX. However, I did have the window trim vinyl wrapped in gloss black. So for me, swapping out the mirror cover was the finishing touch to complete the look. Took about 15min to do. Here are the details:

OEM factory black mirror covers- $42per side from my local Lexus dealership (they price matched another Lexus Dealership). I couldn't believe the price. I was quoted over $100per side from auto detailers to vinyl wrap the mirror.
P/N: 879450E060C0 Left side
P/N: 879150E060C0 Right side

Paid $6 for molding/trim kit off Amazon. This came in handy to help remove the mirror which is held on by two upper and two lower claw clips. The mirror cover then is attached by 6 claw clips. The top three were easy, the lower three were tricky.

I'm obsessed with this mod. What do you think?

Before.

After.

OEM factory gloss black side mirror cover replacement with window trim wrapped in gloss black vinyl.

Mean.

The Raider theme looks great I love the black and gray look. It’s a really nice touch with the windows chrome delete. At that price you can’t beat it either. It’s nerve racking popping out the mirror isn’t it! It’s always the please don’t crack, please don’t crack, I don’t want to look, I don’t want to look!! Yes didn’t crack!!!!!!!

I noticed you did as well. We also did the same grill conversion by not going with full F Sport version. Saved over $700 probably! And I’m glad to have read you have the RSR springs installed w/ 20 inch wheels. Looks great. I have the springs for several months but haven’t installed them. A few places quoted $800-$1000, says the job takes 8hrs? I call BS. A rim shop quoted $400 including the alignment. I plan on going there. Do you recall how long your install took and how much did you pay?

Ahh very cool we are on the same path.

agreed the f spot look alike grill one of the easiest swaps and one of best bangs for the buck.

it was 2hrs and $400 for springs swap. Also I needed to get rear adjustable camber arms (picture) as the camber was too far off on the rear. I have a 450hL so it’s a little heavier and does seem to sit lower than others with rsr springs. These off eBay seemed more beefy than stock but i hear the 2020 models come with rear adjustable camber arms. Interesting Lexus added this standard to 2020 models but not on previous models. Maybe Lexus knows there will be a need as the RX ages for rear camber adjustments?

after doing to swaps the wheels were too far inwards so 20mm hub centric spacers brought the wheels just perfect to the fender edge without going over.

@EasyTurbo7 did you have to pop out the mirror glass and remove the screws to get the mirror cover off or can it just be popped off with a trim pry tool?

It’s been so long but from what I do remember it was fairly easy to do. The dealership printed off an instruction sheet at the time which I no longer have. I believe pry tool is all you need.
