Default Erratic Door Locking

Sometimes I can just touch the door handle and all the doors lock and the mirrors turn in. Other time I touch, grab, stab and finally get the fob out to lock the doors and turn the mirrors in. So, what am I doing wrong? Really like the touch feature………when it works!

Mine always works. Only thing I can think of, is the fob fairly close to the car and not blocked by anything? Also, are you just touching the "crease" at the rear of the door handle? If you "grab" the handle it will want to unlock. Never tried mine with gloves on, so there's that.

If you fold the mirrors in every time you shut off the car, you can set it up that way. Find the sensor on the front of the any door handle and quickly cover it with your palm, if that doesn't work take it to your dealer.

Mine works perfectly every time on two cars. I guess if the FOB battery was weak, you'd get a message while driving so probably not that.

The fob signal can be weak if there are many keys and loose change (metal) around it.

Mind also that the areas on the handle for locking and unlocking are different.

Touch here to lock:

Yep that little indentation. Sensor inside the handle to unlock.

Sounds as if I am doing it right, could be the fob battery, but am not getting a message on display. Rear hatch touch doesn't work either, but I can live with using the fob, dealer is 70 mile away.

You can get a battery at the drugstore, it is very standard: CR2032.

You extract the key from the FOB and use the tip in a slot inside express for it to open it.

Battery change pretty simple. I change them once a year which is probably overkill.

No such issue with mine. I would change the battery since that is the cheapest option and see if things get better. If not, you have some sensor issue. I would bring the car to the dealer since that is a big inconvenience and will hurt later when you need to sell the car (assuming you have factory warranty now). Good luck
