Default 2018 Wiper insert replacement

How do you replace?

Prior Lexus models you could replace the rubber, and re-use the herringbone metal.

The new OEM wipers have a plastic tab on the end. I can’t find a video or how to do.

Anyone have experience?

Thx

I think these are beam wipers and you must replace the whole blade. Also to raise the arms, once car is shut off (within 40 sec I think) push the wiper stalk up and hold it for a few seconds, this will make the wipers move up on the windshield and stop dead centre.

Did they change the wiper blade design from the 2016 model?

In the 2016 Rx manual, page 601, there is a section on how to replace the wiper blade inserts.

It's the same on my 2018. It is a beam blade, and there is an insert that can be replaced as per the manual if you want to save a few bucks per blade. Fiddling and twiddling with the inserts doesn't look worth the little bit of savings, to me.

I agree. I use Trico replacement blades which are a perfect fit.

I also replaced the blades and it's easy. YouTube has videos if I recall.

If replacing, i always use oem, and dip the inserts in 303 protectant to make them last twice as long..
the aftermarket blades also come with some protection layer

You can also use silicone spray to make them last. I've been doing this for yeas now.

Rubbing alcohol works well. I have the originals on my ES which is nearly two years old now. Still clear perfectly.

Doesn’t applying 303 or silicone spray to the wipers, make a smeary mess on the windshield? I’ve found the wax foams used in car washes make my windows atrocious to clean. I end up cleaning my windshield & wiper blades with alcohol to get the smeary mess off.

Silicone will not make them smear gadgetman1. What I do is once a year I'll take a paper towel, fold it, then spray some glass cleaner on it and wipe the blades off until no more black stuff comes off, then I take a clean paper towel and spray some silicone and wipe the blade a couple of times, that it. Been doing that for years.
Oh, one more thing, my wife's 2013 ES has the original wiper blades on it.

I see you live way up north. The sun is so intense here in TX, that anything rubber literally falls apart within 2 years. Wiper blades rarely last more than a year. I put silicone blades on the Camaro & they are holding up well, but I couldn’t find them in stock for the Lexus.

As for windshield wipers replacement, check with your local dealer parts department - inserts are about $10/each, and they will replace them for your on the spot at no extra charge.
Replacement blades are also available, but they are double the price.

Default Wiper blade options

I tried to do a search for wipe blade refill. Is this even possible? I order one from Amazon and they do not fit, the connection is different. 2017 rx350 F. Refill possible or must buy new? Any suggestions?
Thanks
