Did you have any problem with the (metal?) cap lock? Did the eBay inserts come with new cap locks? Did the rear insert install the same way as the fronts? I am just full of questions. Wish there was a youtube video for the 4th gen RX, but couldn't find one.

I just used a small tool to release the cap lock after studying it for a few seconds. There's no need for new cap locks. What I received looked like genuine Lexus parts and came in Lexus factory packaging. You can get the front wipers to park in an accessible location using the procedure outlined in the owner's manual. The rear wiper I just killed the ignition when it was out of the home position and it stayed put.

Thanks for the update. Do you think this will work.

Wrong - you can replace only the insert if you choose. Me - I replace the entire blade.

Before you say Wrong, how do you replace an insert that doesn't exist in a 2017 RX. They only have beam blades where there are no inserts.

I have seen both the inserts and the whole blades on eBay for a decent price (from a Lexus dealer). Is that where you get yours?

Inserts are $10 and $9 dollars. Use cl5 for a 10% discount.

My 17 is a beam that includes an insert. Again I would never bother with the inserts as the entire beam/blade is a simple change.

Mine doesn't, it's like my MB the blade is a one-piece affair.

I guess yours came with after market parts. Look at page 603 of the manual.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I only went by looking at the blade and I could not see anything resembling an insert, so I imagined the to be like the Benz.

I can't see myself going through all that though, I'll get the whole blade and be done.

I agree - I replaced them before the winter and didn't even consider the inserts. Went with Trico OEM fit which work well.

I take the blade off the car and bring it inside and replace the inserts and both take less then 5 minutes. The insert is $9 and the blade is $20.

Question Aftermarket wiper blades

I picked up a set of rain-x wiper blades but it doesn't seem to be possible to install these. The attachment mechanism on the RX is totally different than what the stand alone aftermarket wipers use. Are we stuck with using OEM refills?

Shop for replacements that indicate OEM fit. I replaced with Tricos and they fit fine. Not refills but the entire blade.
