Hi guys, I am a Lexus Master Tech and I am working on a series of maintenance and repair videos that will cover the latest gen RX350.
Here is my fist video on how to replace the wiper refills.
Please hit me up with ideas/suggestions on what other stuff you would like to see in the future.
Thanks!
When to the dealer to get wiper blade refills and the guy says that lexus does not sell the refills anymore and the hole assembly is $60+ for the front.
I said i will order online and have done so. when the current stock runs out of refills you will have to bend over or go aftermarket. i ordered 2 sets for the front at $7.25 x 4 blades plus shipping.
You might want to get your refills while they are available!
Ordered mine from lexuspartsnow.com

Missing Metal Claws On the Wiper Refills - So What To Do Now?
I just tried to replace the wiper refills on my 2017 RX350. But on the original blades (yes, mine lasted this long) there is a metal "claw" that grips the end of the rubber insert on both sides locking the rubber insert and preventing it from sliding out (see picture).
My OEM insets are lacking this metal claw. So, even if I pry off the old claw to release the old inserts from the end clip, I assume that I can not use the new inserts without a new claw to hold them firmly in place. So what to do? I have my RX serviced at Toyota. Do they have claws to install the inserts properly? And why the heck did Lexus supply my replacement inserts without the claws attached?
Believe it or not I think they expect you to carefully remove the little metal clip and reuse it (at least that's what I've done - twice). I used needle nose pliers and a very small flat head screwdriver. It was a bit of a PITA.

My biggest gripe is that the instructions in the 2017 Owners Manual (pgs 603-4) do not mention the metal claw/clip. The instructions are written as if there was not a clip and that the rubber insert just slides out. I purchased the replacement inserts from an online Lexus dealer the same time I purchased the car new in 2017. I have been easily replacing the inserts myself in my ES's and RX's for more than 20 years and the wiper design without the clip has been fine. Why wait to screw us now?
I don't know about US, but in Canada Lexus dealers replace the wiper inserts free of charge for labor. We only pay for the refill which used to be $10 and now with the (6% official inflation rate) are $14...
Gosh it takes me about three minutes to swap out both blades and this style is as simple as the J hooks. Can't imagine fussing with inserts.
Mike, so you buy the entire blade assembly obviously already containing the rubber insert? What is the brand and part numbers for the 3 wipers you use on your 2017 RX350? I assume that your RX also originally came with the rubber insert locked onto the blade with a tiny metal claw as I described in my picture above. Thanks.

I use Trico Ice - they are obviously winter blades but I use them year round on both of our vehicles. A wipe of alcohol monthly and they last a year or more. The rear blade ive never replaced in five years😨
the problem with not having J hooks is sometimes you gotta go hunt for adapters or pay more for these special euro style connectors.
Costco sells michelin stealth wipers for 10 bucks each. Ive used them in all my lexus(s) below EXPECT for the this dang RX. WHY!? because Michelin doesnt include adapters and w/ the adapters they sit higher than oem intended ones. Had to go with these expensive Bosch Icons for no good reason (29.99 each).

WHY mess with J hooks honestly...
All Tricos come with the adapters ready to go - one for the J style and another for the push button for the RX. Easy Peasy.
