Does the RCTA stop the vehicle if a collision will occur when backing out similar to Infiniti back up collision intervention?

No, it doesn't stop the car. Just tells you there's a car coming with beeps and flashing in the mirrors, and the screen shows which side.

Thanks for the info. Seems like a no brainer to have it auto brake also.

Be careful what you wish for, some systems "false" and apply the brakes unnecessarily.

I'd rather have a few false positives when backing out if it means saving even 1 accident. With the visibility issues in vehicles like this, every safety option is welcome. They can even add an off on switch to the autobraking function if needed.

I do not see a problem with hearing the alarm and applying break as required. It works quite well.

It is not like it needs to be like the anti collision system where it brakes to avoid an high speed accident.

If backing out of a driveway, there is a chance a higher speed vehicle may be passing by and be fast enough that a collision may not be prevented by an alarm if the driver doesn't react fast enough.

The Infiniti system first alarms and flashes the side mirror lights then brakes "if needed" if the driver does not react in time.

I have seen the Infinity ad. The driver did not look or even hesitate when he back out into traffic with his entire family inside. For him, this system is a good thing.

Oh no, I bought the wrong vehicle.

I just wished this vehicle had it too considering that the qx60/jx35 had it since 2013. Having been forced to buy a jx35 I can say the system works great and has at least on one or two occasions saved me.
