Sorry if this has been covered but I couldn't find the exact situation I'm looking for.
The rear tailgate intermittently does not go down. Rather, almost immediately after it begins it's downward travel, it suddenly halts, emits a single long beep sound, and remains in place. It's similar to a garage door sensing something in the path of the closing door and reversing itself. But there's never anything in the path of the tailgate. I'd say this happens about once every 3-4 attempts.
I've had to manually push the tailgate closed, but I can't imagine that's good for it.
Any insight on this?
What can cause the power back door to stop and return to it's open position? Kinda like a garage door when there's something in front of the sensor. It wouldn't let me upload a .mp4 (maybe its time to move into the 21st century 🤷♀️) so here's a link to a video of its behavior.

This video is almost exactly what I'm getting, but mine does a single long beep and the door stops where it is - it doesn't retreat upward.
I'm trying to research sensor problems but just not finding anything so far.

Mine hasn't been malfunctioning since I posted so I haven't tried the recalibration yet. I didn't want to risk jinxing it until it happens again.
This has been intermittently happening. Symptom is that the trunk keeps beeping (a single long beep) but does not open (or close). This is true whether I use the key fob or the button in the car.
I could force it to open and close manually (with a lot of resistance), and after that it works again.
One shop says it's the motor but costs over $1K to fix.
