I'm looking for a used 2012 RX350 for my daughter. I was looking at some YouTube videos and the backup camera shows up in the screen on the dashboard while other shows it on the mirror. How do I know which trim shows up in the mirror versus the screen in the dashboard? I kinda prefer it to show on the screen.

 

On the factory build sheet for my wife's 2015 RX350 (which was the final model year for the 3rd generation), the back-up camera is listed as standard equipment. The camera image shows up on her dashboard screen.

Not sure about earlier models in this generation. To be sure, I would ask the owner of any vehicle you decide to consider exactly where the back-up camera image shows up in his / her RX.

 

If you have Navigation then the backup camera view is in the main map screen. If you do not have Navigation, then it shows up in the mirror. I don't know if this changed after the 2013 refresh. If you can get a 13 over a 12 then it will have a better infotainment system and maybe more safety equipment options.

My wife's 2015 RX350 does not have Navigation. Again, the back-up camera image shows up on her dashboard screen. I repeat: ask the owner of any RX you are considering where the image shows up.

 

I think there was an upgrade that happened around 2014 (guess) where directional assist lines were also added.

No back up lines at all for 2013+. Just the camera.
