I cannot get the tailgate on my 2014 RX350 to lift using the fob when I am in a parking lot. I have to open it manually. However, it works fine at home in the garage. Any suggestions?

 

Using the wireless fob, first open all doors (including the rear liftgate) by pressing the unlock button on the fob TWICE. Then press and hold the liftgate button for a couple seconds to open the liftgate automatically....

 

Thank you!! With my 2 previous RXes I was able to open the hatch without unlocking the whole car. Wish that was true with this one. I appreciate your help!!

 

Strange. SAME parking lot or ANY parking lot? From how far away? You know well enough, how much electronic emission is out their in public places. Any cell tower may interfere.

 

Thanks for responding. Come to find out I have to unlock the car before it will work. My other 2 allowed me to open only the tailgate without unlocking all the doors. That's why I was confused.

 

My 2011 opens tailgate with fob but I have to press for maybe 3 secs.

 

This is exactly how our 2015 works too. We have to keep the button pressed until we hear the beep that the doors have unlocked, and then the tailgate opens. Never had to unlock the doors first. Interesting.

 

Opening the liftgate by just pressing the liftgate button on the fob for 3 seconds (and all doors don't have to be opened first) could be programmed via TechStream software by the dealers (or by yourself if you have TechStream sw) for some model years of the RX350 as I heard from some folks on this forum. However, at least on my 2010 RX350, there is no option to program this option as I looked at all liftgate options in TechStream sw for my car, YMMV ...
