Default Tailgate won't open

We have 2011 RX350.
Wife just called and, through beeping noise heard, said that tailgate won't open. She can't open it from the handle. if dash button is pressed, it starts opening and then shuts close. Plus the beeping noise saying tailgate is ajar.
I am hoping it's simple "something got jammed somewhere" situation but suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Guess it's solved. She went to some seminar last night, I told her to try to open tailgate from the fob button and help it to go up by hand. No idea if she did so or not - it's 5am - but I checked car 5 minutes ago and tailgate goes up and closes from hand just fine.

We had something similar. My mom was taking stuff out of the rear when the tailgate started to close on her (she or my dad accidentally activated it). As it was coming down, she pushed up on it and started to making a clicking sound. I wasn't there, but she told me that the tailgate went back to the open position and wouldn't close (electrically). We tried all the tricks found on this forum, even the switch in the glove box. Nothing worked. After a few weeks, we forgot about it and had it serviced at Toyota. I asked them to take a look at it. When it was done, the tailgate was working normally. I was a little upset as I KNOW I tried everything, but the service manager told me about the button in the glove box. He said that's all the tech did was turn it on. It may not work the first time, but it eventually will (?). I'm still befuddled by it, LOL.

Salim, she says it all works well after she gave it a nudge by hand yesterday. Of course, she didn't let me know until I called her this am. Oh well. She said it was cargo net that caught at the bottom of the tailgate and prevented it from shutting close tight, so it started acting up.
Anything better than taking to Lexus dealer.
Button in the glove box? I know only about TPSM reset button there. Another one?

Good to know that the problem was due to binding in the lock mechanism. I would immediately discard the net [if you use it buy another one]. If the thing is loose enough to tangle up, it will do again.

Naahh, we'll be fine. She let it snake down onto the carpet as she brought in a bunch of garden mix bags. Likely, pulling those out, she dragged net where the latch goes. it's OEM net, we never had issue with it. She "got the memo".

Seems like a carry over from vehicles with a trunk, where you can lock the glove box and prevent the valet from getting in the trunk. No sense in hiding this button in the RX.
