Crutchfield has a bunch of options. The options are vehicle specific.

I have the same question but for rear speakers.
Can I replace standard rear door speakers with Mark Levinson speakers? Will it help?
Saw bunch of them on e-bay.

I have an SC 430 with the Mark Levinson and the speaker nominal impedance is different than most other car speakers. I do not know what impedance the RX uses. Be careful. Secondly, the Mark Levinson speakers are nothing special. Many SC owners have replaced them with much better speakers. If anyone knows the impedance of the RX speakers it would be helpful.

I just replaced the 4 tweeters last week with Infinity Kappa series tweeters. I left all others alone. The sound is a bit better but let me explain further.

While most people may think that it's the high frequency drivers or the low-end bass that is lacking in the sound, it's actually the quality of the mid range speakers that impact the sound that we hear most. The "clear" sound or the "airy" sound does get impacted by the quality of the tweeters but, more times than not, it has to work with the crossover point (handing off the sound from mid range to tweeter) and the existing mid range speakers. As for the low frequency sound, the really good stuff at the bottom end don't really show up very well in car stereos unless you gutt the whole sub woofer system and build new boxes.....

so, 1. change out the tweeters and see if that airy sound that you seeking comes through
2. if not satisfied, change out the mid range also (hopefully with a same brand speaker set with the tweeter set you put it) and see if it solves your problems.
3. If that doesn't give you better overall sound, you have to replace the subwoofer to get a better and more powerful bass.

For me, I don't think it really solved my problem. It's still not comparable to my old RX from 2001. (though better than before) I may just simply replace all my door speakers and leave the sub woofers, and amps alone....

I've changed all speakers on my rx450h with focal speakers but the best improvement was door sound deadening with dynamat and 3M thinsulate. I've also closed all opening in door with medium wood.
I recommend this easy work.
My last work was subwoofer insulation, subwoofer speaker replacement with a pioneer model and addition of a Hertz amplifier on the subwoofer.
excuse my poor english

Great suggestion about sound deadening, mbrlex. Another member did it to his 3RX and said the stereo was better. I believe he had ML. More details here.

a question regarding the door bottom speakers - Are they (front and back seat) both component speakers with just the woofer only or are they 2 or 3 way speakers with mid and tweets along with the bass driver?

Although I have never seen the RX 350 speakers, I have seen many other Lexus speakers and none have been concentric. ie. two way or three way.

??? I'm just asking if anyone knows whether these are component speakers with dedicated drivers for separate frequencies to each speaker? Not sure what you mean by concentric????

Concentric speakers are 2 or 3 way speakers that have the drivers mounted concentrically in the speaker. That means both midrange and tweeter mounted in one speaker. I do not think the Lexus speakers use this type of arrangement. I only know that on my SC 430 with Mark Levinson there are cross overs built into the system and suspect the RX is no different. So yes, they are as you suggest, component speakers with dedicated frequencies sent to them from the cross over.

For rx450h 2010,front speakers have different ways:
one channel for medium, tweeter and one channel for low medium, bass.
crossover comes from the amplifier.
if you want to add a new amplifier you need four channels for front doors from pioneer amplifier ( non ML).
you can also add an audiocontrol system https://www.crutchfield.com/p_161LC6...k.html?tp=2001 to mix the channel together and using a 2 ways amplifier instead of 4 ways but you have to use an external crossover for that.
The advantage for the second solution is that you can adapt the level for each way.

I, too, find the audio mediocre. To me, the bass is muddy, and without apparent direction.

Against just about every low-mid-high setting that I've ever used on any sound system, I find the most pleasant (to me) setting is to boost the midrange two to three notches.

It seems to "punch up" the sound.

My rear seat speakers seem useless; and I'm not sure the woofer in the cargo area is pulling it's load.

Wifie has a Fender system in her optioned-out 2014 VW Beetle that shames my 2013 RXh's mid-level system.

I have exactly the same experience, Some sound comes from the back doors. No bass, no middle no heights. something between?
I had for one week an active subwoofer (Rockford Fosgate P300-12 12" 300W ) built in the car, I then had too much bass, the mid-range and tweeter could not keep up with the sound.
(With mp3 source and 320k sampling on the usb stick it even sounds like in a fiat 500).. psssst.. sorry for that, but its true.
But there are certainly people who are satisfied with the sound :- )

..dismount the Subwoofer this week:
