Rear view mirror loose?
Hi All,
after 20years with my 2GS, I've recently picked up an 2015 RX. The only bug I found so far is that my seems loose and it wobbles a bit. I can see the top cover (covers the wire to the headliner) isn't flush with the glass, and the wobbling stops if I hold that up.
Is this something that might just be tighten a screw and simple to DIY? Or is it more of a leave it for the Dealer to take care of under warranty at next convenient time.
Thanks!

There is torx slew head which secures the rear view mirror to the glued on metal piece. I used a dab of non binding glue (rubber cement) to prevent it from unravelling. It just needs to be sung .. dont over tighten.
We are talking about the inside rear view mirror.

I was able to see what you are talking about and I even unscrewed it and detached the mirror and reattached it snug.
But unfortunately still have a wobble.
I think my problem looks like on the upper part with the plastic cover. I see that the plastic cap has 2 hooks at the end, but on my car they don't seem to connect to anything they just slide under the headliner. Is it supposed hook into something?
This one might be for the dealer to solve

There are two sliding parts which essentially hide the wires/connector. The mirror unit itself is secured by the screw while the sliding pieces are not rigidly fixed. If the mirror is loose after the screw is tightened then the problem really needs to be investigated by the dealer.

I had a vibration on my SC on my rear view mirror. Upon doing some research, my metal spring that puts tension is no good. It was actually covered by a TSB. I ordered the spring clip and they come in pairs. Popped out the old, put in the new, vibration, looseness is gone. Assuming they still use the same clip, I will be more than happy to give you the part number and the picture. It is one of those...I wish I had know earlier type. For many years I dealt with the vibrating rear view mirror. Not anymore.

Yes... part number, please. Mine is loose in our 2010 RXh and I haven't taken the time to dig into it yet, so this thread is timely for me.

I did not see any spring/clip in 2011 450H. Metal piece glued to the glass and the U channel + screw on the mirror stalk. I was wiping down the inner surface of the screen and as I bumped the mirror it moved.
What are the odds of 3 folks having the same problem?

My rearview mirror was loose as well. I was thinking of taking it in before the warranty expired, but it ended up being a simple screw that needed to be tightened. Saved me a trip to the dealer.

I finally pulled out my T15 screw driver and tightened the Torx screw, and no more wiggle on the mirror. PERFECT! If it comes loose again, I'm going to use some of the non-permanent Blue Loctite to secure it, but for now, it's snug as a bug!
