Close call.
So, we have a lot of damage in the house from the earthquake this morning but the RX is OK. Close call with this one shelf. A 12' step ladder that could have fallen away from the wall onto the RX fell sideways onto the stairs from the laundry room to the garage. Most amazing is that the RX moved back into the garage door. We had to pull the car forward to get the garage door open. In park with brake set.
No one injured and no structural damage but lots of furniture overturned, broken glass and general mess. Power is back on and we are starting clean up. My sportage parks in the driveway so that is the car we are using now and the garage cleanup will wait till tomorrow.

Tom, I was wondering how you fared after hearing about the earthquake. I'm glad everyone including the RX came out relatively unscathed. The house and the mess, well that can be taken care. And let's hope no more shaking and rolling anytime soon. Thanks for letting us know.
Thanks for the well wishes. We can go A LONG TIME without any more of that shaking.
Very surprising what did and didn't move. Most of the food in the kitchen refrigerator was on the floor with lots of broke glass. The garage refrigerator moved away from the wall but nothing came out. Lots of strange things like that.
It is all only stuff and we will be a while cleaning up and dealing with it but we are all OK.
Thanks again.

Very happy your story is not as bad as many on the news and that none of your family was injured.
As a child I lived on Travis AFB in the early 60's. What's the story in that area or was it far enough from the center?

I have not heard of any damage in the Fairfield/Travis area but have not talked with a lot of folks who were in that area at the time of the quake. The bit of news I have seen has not discussed Fairfield, thinking they may have felt the quake bet little damage.
Good to hear you and your family are doing well, considering you were near the center of the quake. RX did its job keeping away from falling objects, even if it had to jump backwards. RX's are good about keeping out of the repair shop.
Yes, being in an earthquake is something you never forget. I worked in San Francisco for years, including during the 89 quake. We have since retired and moved to tornado alley (Oklahoma). Just a mailbox and climate storage room though, as we travel full time.
News reports mentioned California has a 99.7% chance of a magnitude 6.7 or greater earthquake within the next 30 years. All you can do is be prepared best you can, just in case one visits your area again someday. Sure your area is getting lots of advice on earthquake awareness right now.
