The traffic info on my 2011 RX350 just disappeared at the same time my XM radio service stopped. Do I need XM to get traffic info on my nav display? Seems strange. I'm in Canada.

Yes, traffic is a subscription service from Sirius. It's the only part worth paying for imo.

Yes, you need to subscribe to both the Traffic and Weather but I don't think you have to have an active music subscription to subscribe subscribe to traffic. Our radio trial period was 3 months and the Traffic and Weather trial was one year. We just renewed to the radio (6 months for less than $30.00), after letting it lapse for a while , as we are going on a trip in a month or so and thought the radio would be nice for that. When that runs out I doubt we will renew again.

We have only changed our route once due to a traffic alert and missed whatever traffic there was to get caught in traffic leaving the Raider's game. We have ignored other traffic advisories and have never seen the traffic they were advising us about. I'll look into it more in 6 months or so when it expires but I doubt we will renew.

 

When mine ran out on my ISC I called to see if I could get just the Traffic and weather and was told no go only if you buy the music package with it. I don't have it now.

 

I have just Traffic. It is possible.

I wish the traffic included all roads. You would need to use the highway for long stretches for it to have any value. I find it pretty useless and Google maps on my phone is much more accurate. Mentioning it for those that may want to subscribe.
