Default What are the arrow buttons?

I've owned my 2010 for a couple months now and something has been driving me crazy.

The Nav has 2 buttons on the center console, one for "Menu" and one for "Map".
But in between those buttons is a button with arrows up and down (I guess its up and down, could be front/back).

I haven't been able to figure out what this button does. I press it all the time and nothing seems to happen.

Any ideas?

It's the zoom level for the map.

Ed, as Mep said, it's for the zoom. But I have a question. Have you pursued the NAV system in your manual yet? It's pretty comprehensive and the manual has a lot to offer re: NAV functionality you may not even know you have.

You can also use those arrows to scroll in certain menus.

I was playing with those buttons on the GPS map on my way home last night and they did nothing.
Something must be wrong with my car.

According to the Navigation Owner's Manual some functions may become inoperable when driving.
This may be one of those functions.

Nope. The zoom works most of the time when moving, except when a direction is pending. Just wait until you have made the turn or exit that has been called out, then the zoom will work again.

Most menu's and features in the Sat/Nav dont work if the car is moving. I got tired of this and put in the Prestigious Society Nav over ride.. Now when I need something I push the volume button on the steering wheel 4 times and the locked menus open up. I make my changes and push the buttons again and the Nav system is back where it was. Takes no time. Requires minimal attention from the road (no more than changing the radio channel) and I dont have to pull over.

Takes about an hour for an unskilled person to do. I had LED's that required more work.

On the bottom of the navigation screen there is either an "OFF" button or and "ON" button. Hit (click on them using your remote touch) the "ON" button and it turns on the zoom arrows down by the remote touch joy stick. You will now also see a "+" sign and a "-" sign. The plus and minus work as zoom in and zoom out. Hitting the OFF button turns all that off and frees up a little space on the screen.

There is also a voice command for zooming.

In the other non-navigation screens, the arrows scroll rather than using your cursor and clicking on the up and down scroll bars. Like if you have a list of "Playlists" showing you can scroll using the arrows down by the remote touch joy stick.

This information applies to the current software/hardware in the 2010-2012 models. (There were some scrolling problems in the 2010 models and this was rectified in a Technical Service Bulletin, at least for me.)
