Default Scrolling the map on the NAV

First let me state that, based on my reading of the manual, I have found the following information:
"To scroll over the map, place the pointer in a position near the desired destination and then press and hold the ìENTERî button. The map will continue scrolling in that direction until the button is released." from page 39 of the NAV Owners manual.

In my real life experience however, when I move the pointer to an edge of the map and click & hold enter, the map just scrolls to the point that I clicked on... It does not continue scrolling in that direction until I release the ENTER button.

Can anyone else verify which is proper (real) behavior (manual or mine).

I would really like a way that I can scroll around the map and look at areas, in the current zoom level, different than where I am without having to continually move and click the mouse.

Chris...

I agree the manual is misleading. It does not work as you and I read the Manual. I wonder if they mean if it takes two seconds to scroll to your newly chosen point and you hold enter for two seconds the screen will scroll in that direction until you reach that new point. If you hold the enter button for one second you will scroll in that direction, but it will not reach the new point???

I like the way you and I read the manual and I wish it worked that way, but in the 2012 and the 2010 it does not appear to work that way. Scrolling to explore seems to only work by zooming.

actually, holding the enter button does scroll to the desired position. Yes, first it goes to your pointer on the map and pauses, but if you keep holding the enter button and at the same time move the pointer even further in the direction you want to go, it keeps the map moving

Try holding the enter button and while doing so, move the cursor to the left or right side of the screen as far as the cursor will go.

I got it to work once out of twenty attempts. I did notice the crosshair target turns yellow when it works. Progress....now to figure out why it only worked once!! Thanks for your patience.

Well, I'll have to try that (again)... I couldn't get it to work before after RTFMing but I'll give it another go...

Ciege,

You are really gonna "duh" when I say this......

The car must be stopped for this to work. Not necessarily in Park, just stopped rolling. Works every time.

Worked as described in the manual for me.

I was stopped at the time.
