Default Buying Opinions RX350

Is 36800 a good deal on a 2011 RX350 with fwd, premium, heated seats and accessory pckg? A dealer has accepted my offer. Should i wait until October for a better deal with awd?

Wow. Is it a demo? That's an incredible price. Truecar.com says the dealer cost (which factors in rebates, dealer kickbacks...) is $38K.

Yes it is brand new. The dealer said that his buyers have only been interested in awd. I think he is trying to move it. I am new here. I have been searching the forum for fwd vs. awd discussions. It may sound that awd is nice to have . That is why i am torned between getting this deal or waiting for the end of the year sale to get the awd.

Depends where you live?
I actually prefer not having AWD, even though I have it on both the RX300, and RX450h.
Less things to worry about, plus better fuel mpg.

The only reason I got AWD, is cause I travel to Michigan/Chicago every month, and there winters are rough. It snows like crazy, and ice is a huge concern in Chicago.

If we were still living in New England, I would have gotten the AWD.
But now that we're here in LA I decided to go with the FWD and spend the difference with the optional package instead.

Let me be the devil's advocate here.. Maybe the reason he's giving you a discounted price is that he'll be rolling out the 2012 this september. Right after the Lexus event which ends on sept 6?

By the way, we got ours 2 days ago, since inventory is quite low here in South Cali and my wife doesn't want to wait months for the exterior-interior combo that she wanted.

Like others have said, if you are in a warm state and don't ever go off road, just get the FWD and save your money. Honestly, even if you drive in a little snow here and there, I'm sure the FWD is fine. This is the first AWD drive vehicle that I have owned, and I have always used a FWD car (small, like Honda Fit, Geo Prizm...) in the northeast & Michigan and have been fine.

That is a great deal. To get that much of a discount at this time of year is very hard to do. Shoot, its even hard to do during the "December to Remember" promotions.

I am in North Carolina. I don't really think i would need it, but it sounds like a useful feature. Thank you for everyone 's responses.

I don't think you will need it in NC. Just get some good all season tires and your good to go.

Save the money you'd have to spend to get AWD, and save money on Gas. Sounds like a win win to me.

Driver3000-
Which dealer did you get this quote from? Charlotte? Winston Salem, GBoro? Raleigh/Durham?

AWD is always a better choice regardless where you live. especially a AWD system on 3Gen RX where there is no "real" differences in MPG compare to FWD. Like dealer said, customers desire AWD. But at the price you quoted, FWD or not, it is an incredible deal when considering used will cost that much. I am assuming at that price for a new RX, its a base model? If you are planning to keep the RX for "long" time, it sounds like a winner but if you typically only keep for few years, you will have a least desire RX model [base + FWD] to sell. most popular features on Lexus are leather, AWD, GPS, and HID so check to see if you have any or all of these features.

As I have mentioned in my previous post, the main reason you're getting a great deal is that the 2012 will be rolled out soon enough. November according to my dealer. And 2500 under invoice seems to be the norm now.
