Look at this service manual diagnosis tree. It is for the 2GR-FE engine although it is the Sienna manual, but this manual is available for free online!
About 12-18 months old, so it should still have plenty of life in it....
Also, the CEL is not on, so I'm scratching my head on this. I've booked an appointment with the dealership for next week. They replaced the battery, so hopefully it's as simple as that....
Turns out my problem was rodent-related. Some critter decided to chew through some wires. My solution was having the dealership splicing them back together.
Rodents love the Soy based wire insulation used by the car manufacturers. This is becoming more of a problem, well more reports of it on the forum. You may want to put out some traps near where you park. Some have put Mothballs and other repellents in the engine compartment.
so did some more investigation. thought it was weird that both sensors were giving a knock code so thought, maybe they are actually doing their job and there is a knock, noticed there was only 1/8 tank of fuel left and maybe there was some bad gas it was sucking in... dumped in a can of berrymans B12 and went to Sunoco for a fresh tank of 93... engine idled smooth and didn't stumble, so my theory wasn't holding much weight...
on the way back as i was driving, i would reset the code via the obd2 and the car would run perfectly for 3 seconds then pop the code immediately back... usually error codes would take a few key cycles to register, so it had to be something with the sensors... i went home and dug out the scope to check in the valley...
both sensors looked dry and no signs of nesting... plugs also looked good going into the KS...
followed the other end of the harness and came to this.... hmmmmm that doesn't look right...
got to the other end of the plug ANNDDDDD bingo!!!! found you, or rather found where you should be...
i ordered the harness, intake manifold and plenum gaskets and new plugs... they will be here next week... if i'm going to be ripping everything open to replace the harness, i'm not going to do it again in 20k miles to do the plug service... this thing will get new plugs early...
the damn vermin not only ate through the harness of the knock sensor side, it also ate through the other side that goes to the main harness... !%$#$!#$, i have to trace the wires into the main harness and extend them now... argghhhhhh
Yes I have the same exact problem at 114,000 miles , did you ever figure out what it was ??

Tried to use the manual shift gears and no change. I then coasted off to the shoulder. I had no forward or reverse in any gear when revving the engine up to 3-4000 rpm. I cycled the key off and on. When I started back up, I had the following codes: Check Engine light, Check AWD System fault and Traction Control light on the dash. There was no oil on the pavement or drips when it was put on the wrecker to take it to the local Lexus dealership.
Not sure what happened to the transmission. Every service has been done as per factory schedule with only 105,867 miles on the vehicle. It is either mechanical failure inside or possibly an electrical problem. Anyone else have this happen to them or any thoughts?

I got this message when my battery died. Could be alternator not charging or a dead battery. There is power to the car but battery is weak. Replaced the battery and everything works fine.
after months finally pulled engine out and removed head and inspect looks good but took piston #1 out and YES bad rings caused to misfire and skipping , replaced new piston rings runs perfect !

Glad to hear and sorry for the hassle and cost!
You said earlier that compression was good. I wonder how much "lower" was the compression in cylinder 1
Otherwise, I'm pretty dissappointed that it happened so prematurely. What's the mileage?
Thanks for the advice on this forum. Have never had a problem with my 2015 RX350 until two days ago when the ‘Check Engine’ light and a ‘Check AWD System’ message appeared suddenly as I tooled down the interstate. I saw the suggestion to first check the gas cap for tightness. Sure enough, it was loose so tightened it until heard the click, restarted the car, and the messages are gone. Now have to cancel Lexus dealership appointment I made for this week. Thank again, ClubLexus.
Just got a 2011 RX350 with 43,000 from the mother-in-law. Low miles for 10 years, then mostly sat there for the last year. Car needed a jump start the morning after it was delivered. Not long after the AWD system, check engine, and tire pressure monitor lights (!) were all on. It failed inspection. Made an appt with dealership for tomorrow. Looked online and found this forum this morning. So I went out, removed then replaced the gas cap, stepped hard on the brake pedal. I restarted the car and all lights were off. Autozone checked the battery and said it was 4 years old but probably just ran down after little use. Had a 50% charge. Drove around on highway etc for another 30 mins then went to emissions check station, and this time it passed. Will go get tags tomorrow, and now we are a 3 car family.

Before reacting to any of the error message/problems, please make sure your battery is 100% charged.
Also once the ECU is manually reset or +12v removed, it is expected to report "not ready" till enough driving is done [2-5 days of driving]. Glad everything worked out for you.

Hello friends,
I have encountered a strange issue since last week. When my gas is full I do not see check AWD system+ check engine light ON but whenever my gas is 3/4th full today the check AWD system with check engine light came on. Last week when my gas was 1/4th full my checkengine light and check AWD light came on.
On both of these time, when I full the tank the message is gone.I have checked my oil cap which is locked properly.
Could it be because of fuel contamination? Could it also because when the pump was stopped, I put little more gas in the gas tank? I heard some people in the blog with similar issue mentioning the same thing.
Could it be because of uneven wear one of my tire that my mechanics told me needs to be replaced due to uneven wear thats causing this issue?
Also after refuelling my after refuel information gets reset automatically meaning it would show something like 20 l / 100 km and then gruadually decrease to 15 and then 13 and then 11 l/100 km something like that so not sure why the computer completely could have been reset after refuel as I thought the previous gas value should had to bo consistently present.
Could there be some other reasons why check AWD system and check engine light to be ON. I park in the parking lot outside our condomium.
Also I have realized that the car to act little weird when all the light comes on like little jerk feeling which was little abnormal however when the light is OFF after full tank the car seems normal
